I never thought that I would find 100 trivia questions on Napoléon when I started this series back in March 2011 but here I am!

In 1813 Napoléon added to his Imperial Guard a unit of cavalry that he literally called his "miniature" cavalry. The members of this regiment had a very specific name and outfit coming from their country/region of origin. What was the name of these fierce fighters.

That would have to be the Polish Krakus.

Correct answer John! Well done! They are indeed the Polish Krakus regiment. Napoléon called them his "pygmy cavalry". More on these excellent cavalrymen from the Krakow region (where their name is coming from) at:
