A famous painting in the "Malmaison" château represents in an unexpecting and creative way 8 key periods of Napoléon's life. What is on that painting and who was the artist?

I think the painting is done on a screen, but not quite sure.....^&confuse^&confuse

I am bumping this thread up, because I am dieing to hear the answer!^&cool

OK guys, I am giving you one more day due to Easter weekend before I give you the answer...:rolleyes2:

And the answer is:

Les Huit époques de Napoléon (The eight periods of Napoléon's life) by Charles de Steuben (painting done in 1826 and located in the château de Malmaison). Each hat portrays a period of Napoléon's life: from top to bottom and from left to right: 1 Vendémiaire, 2 the Consulat, 3 the Empire, 4 Austerlitz, 5 Wagram, 6 Moscou, 7 Waterloo, 8 Sainte-Hélène.

Pretty cool, isn't it?

Well I never! Never seen that before - yes, pretty cool. I had been guessing that it must have been something to do with the famous picture of him "Crossing the Alps" - which I knew had five different versions - all painted by the same man - and was kind-of hoping that there must have been another three "sketches" or something like them, that I have never seen or heard of - that maybe somebody unearthed somewhere - but wasn't to be!

Ho-hum - never mind. Good question monsieur: johnnybach;)
