This interesting object is literally called in French a "head pot" and was used during the Napoleonic wars. What is it?

Correct answer Mirof. {bravo}}This is indeed a "pot-en-tête" in French or "pot-helm" in English. They were worn by sappers during siege work. The Musée de l'Emperi in France shows a Napoleonic version:
