Well, I am pondering a big plunge into Napoleonics.... Been doing some research, some of it with the help of this forum's information, and came to this, based on my possibilities and taste:
1st-ART IG, from Latvia http://www.artig.lv/index.php?id=1
2nd-K&C
3rd-Miniwelt from Germany http://stores.ebay.com/MINIWELT-HISTORICAL-MINIATURES_W0QQsspagenameZFAVQ3aFQ3aSLLRQQtZkm

The absolut winner is for me ART IG, lovely figures, expensive but not absolutelyyyyyy ouuuuut of reeeeach...... K&C, well you know all abut their quality. Miniwelt, they have Austrian figures and other that can fill nationality gaps.
All these companies have singles sets, good for my display space and affordability.
Also, Patriot looks very promising.

Glad to see yet another member get sucked into the napoleonic vacuum!!!:p

Glad to see Patriot was mentioned next to these great manufacturers which are all offering very high quality products.
But we are sure that you'll like our napoleonic too.
It wan't an easy task to decide launching this new line as there are so many existing nappies manufacturers around, in all different continents. Therefore, we can only offering you the best we can at the most reasonable price.
There'll be more Napoleonic in 2007 from Patriot.

From what I've seen, I'll surely like it all right. Your initial figures look fantastic, and I had already noticed it from your WWII figures. I am sure you'll rank amongst the very best for all Napoleonic collectors! As you go along I hope you can find the room not just for French and English figures but also for Russians, Prussians, Dutch, Poles... Well, 3 at a time, with a little time to breathe:p ...
Keep it up.

Hi,
«Sucked into the Nap vacuum» looks like a good expression:D . There is a charm about the Nap uniforms, flags and colours that makes it very special, irresistible even for a Nap ignorant like me ( I've heard and read a minimum about Wellington, Waterloo, Austerlitz, the Russian campaign, my country was invaded by Napoleon and the English fought him here, that at least I know; but I love History and reading about it, for me it comes together with collecting whenever I can ) .
Now, this is no easy decision: I have only collected WWII till now ( figures, dioramas and tanks and 1/72 aircraft ), and have a big cabinet nearly
filled with those, especially dioramas.
Now I have another cabinet, from Ikea, and it can not handle dioramas So I plan to put in it figures without dioramas. I guess WWII figures will have to be on hold if I go ahead with Napoleonics:p But something tells me that I might not regret that choice... I'll think about a 1/72 tank/aircraft and Napoleonics budget for 2007:eek:

What are your favorite Napoleonics? Have you checked out ART IG?

Paulo

Hi Paulo.
It seems strange that being a WW2 collector you are now thinking of moving into Napoleonics, I've just done the opposite. Been collecting K&C Napoleonics for the last 3 years and only last week I bought my first WW2 vehicle in the shape of the Dingo Scout Car. The problem is I have been looking at the K&C Crusader figures as a new period to collect, these will have to wait now I suppose or split the funds between the two. What a decision to have to make.
Anyway you won't regret the decision to go with Napoleonics just what to buy?
Regards
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
I have about 2 years of WW2 collecting, you have 3 years of Napoleonics, maybe we both have enough WW2 and Napoleonics and «found» room for something different:cool: Also new great things keep coming up,and call for our attention...Happy to find out that there are others that collect more than one historical period:p .

What Napoleonics did you collect?

Best wishes,
Paulo

I agree there are so many great figures around today, if I had the money I would like to collect the K&C Romans & Barbarians, Egyptians as well as the new Crusaders but where to put them all? My wife collects the K&C SOHK matt range and I actually think these are some of the nicest painted figures that you can get.
All my Napoleonics are K&C, a good mix of the figures that have been produced so far. I will continue to collect these as I still need some of the Scots Greys. British RHA etc. etc.....
I used to paint my own castings but only in gloss, but now I'm afraid I only buy matt painted figures.

Jeff

I have lots favorites I like and want just about all of them!!!:p I,m into the matt figures and I like them to be very detailed and don,t care for the old style glossy toy looking ones.
My favorites to collect are K&C,Britains,Frontline and are what I have most of.
I also collect all kinds of other things I find here and there like mulberry miniatures, del prado, metal and plastic kits, plastics and what ever else I find that I like.
I,m starting to run out of room for them. I have all the K&C to date and all the britains sets with many multilpe sets to make up big diorams I also have the 100 del prado foot figures and around 100 of the 120 cavalry. I,ve got a ton of frontline stuff now also, I,m not even sure how many I have but I,m sure it,s into the hundreds by now.
I,d like to collect the tin bay and miniwelt stuff but the prices are just to high but the figures are some of the best out there. I,ve only got 6 of them in my collection.
There are so many great figures out there and unless your bill gates or won the lottery i,d look around and find what looks the best or most reasonable to you and stick with that and pick up a few of the other manifactures here and there that really catch your eye.

P.S. I,m half portugesse also! The other half is british! I was born here but my family was from the Islands so I can only understand a little of the language and as far as speaching if the house was on fire I might know just enough to get every one to leave and that would be about it!:p

Yes my family was from the azores. I have no idea on the correct spelling of the island they came but it sounds out as BA-TON-YA! My mother was born there but came over when she was only 2 years old so she can,t remeber anything but my grand parents would always tell us how nice it was.

The Açores ( Azores in English ) islands are:
-São Miguel
-Santa Maria
-Pico
-Faial
-Terceira ( the Lages US airforce base is here )
-São Jorge
-Corvo
-Flores

-GRACIOSA-might it be this one? Graciosa...Batonya...

The island was Sao Miguel and the city was Ponta Del Gada (Remedios).
My grandmother was born here in the USA when her parents moved over here before the depression but they moved back during the depression and my mother was born on the island but they moved back again when my mother was 2 years old.
