Just thought I would share this recent purchase with you.....The date on it was the exact date that the French left the town and the majority of Napoleon's cannons were captured...the bell is numbered "18"on the top which wasn't noticed by the seller....my thought is that the bell is bronze melted down from Napoleons cannons and given to German Officers who were at the battle..this was a common practice...another nice piece to add to my militaria collection....also picked up a another beautiful Brown Bess from a family who had it in storage...it hadn't been cleaned in 200 years....
