The National Capital Model Soldier Society (NCMSS) will hold their 57th annual model figure show and sale this coming Saturday September 9th at the Thomas Edison High School in Alexandria VA from 9:00am till 4:00pm.

This is the longest running show of it's kind in the DC area, there will be numerous vendors there selling toy soldiers, military miniatures, kits, paints, brushes, books and modelling supplies. All major current toy soldier manufacturers will be represented, including K & C, First Legion, JJD, TGM, W.Britains, Cold Steel Miniatures and Frontline miniatures among others, plus vintage metal toy soldiers and also plastic toy soldiers.

In addition to the vendors area, there is also a exhibit area where club members display their work.

I will be in attendance, this is the only show I currently am attending in the DC area, hope to see some of the forum members there..................................

Thanks to the forum members and others who attended the show yesterday, the club reported a nice crowd showed up, north of 200 people, was a beautiful day in Alexandria. Show was very good, the club members put on a nice show, thanks to the club as well for the hospitality suite the night before and the free coffee and donuts for the dealers in the morning.

Sales were very good right up until the awards ceremony began. And thanks to the club member who I spoke with in the hospitality suite on Friday night who worked a deal with me to help him sell his late Fathers Aeroart collection, it was my pleasure to assist you with that, glad it worked out so well (he and I sold all of them at the show at very fair prices, hope he puts that money to good use).

The exhibit area was very nice as well, some of the club members do great, great work.

I enjoy these club shows very much; DC, MFCA in PA and the Long Island show as well, the members are all nice guys, the club is proud of their members and the work they do, it's nice they have a platform to show their work, the awards ceremony is a nice touch. The club president down in DC has some very forward thinking ideas as to where this hobby is heading.

I'm probably going to attend the Chicago club show as well in October; it's a different crowd than at a traditional toy soldier show, the buyers look for different things, plus there are a lot of great modeling aids available for sale at these shows as well.

Thanks again everyone................will see you next September.............
