Recently a seller shipped me a figure with a sword and scabbard over which he had slipped a section of a straw to keep them from bending or breaking. That would work well with rifles and bayonets also. Most of you probably knew this but I thought it was a neat idea. Tommy

There are manufacturers who do this, too. I've seen some that use plastic tubing, a little thicker than the plastic used for drinking straws. You're right, it is a good idea.

Prost!

With any figures that I sell that are not secure in the box, I put a piece of straw over the exposed part and carefully wrap it in bubble wrap making sure that the straw can't move otherwise major damage could result.

Been doing this for a while . . . wish we could get all sellers to do this . . . it would save a lot of grief!

Maybe a better idea is to have the swords, guns, or whatever the figure is holding removable. ...:rolleyes2:

K&C and JJD are doing that with all the flags and a few of the rifles. I suspect that there is a cost increase to manufacture a separate piece such as a sword, but I couldn't say for sure. I have had the straw actually cause the issue as it slid out of the foam slot during shipping and bent the rifles.

I also foresee some balancing issues for figures that are holding something out from the body or over their head ....

But it would make shipping and moving them around a lot easier and safer ...... --- Larry
