Back in the late '80s there were a series of plastic kits depicting futuristic suits of body armor. I believe they were all German and hypothetically used during World War II. The boxes they came in were very spartan, made of plain cardboard, and featured one picture on the top with all lettering in a simple font. I haven't seen these in quite a while and assume they are no longer produced - does anyone know the name of the maker or the names of any of the kits?

Are you thinking perhaps of the Maschinen Krieger series of kits, based on a sci-fi idea by Japanese sculptor Kow Yokoyama? One side of the conflict was a sort of East Germany in Outer Space, if you will, and German military terms abounded. Yokoyama's designs served as the basis for a serial that was published in a sci-fi magazine in the 80's.

There were model kits put out by Hasegawa, and some other makers. Most were in 1/20 scale, though there were some 1/6 scale models of the powered armor suits.

The series enjoys popularity in the broader hobby of scale modeling.

Prost!
