 21st Century is Supposed to Release a "NEW" 88th Gun in DAK and Gray -Wehrmacht Colors in 1/18 Scale "AWESOME", in September 2008!

John, where did you get that info?
I know they had an 88 planned, but unfortunately it looks like their business is failing. I sure hope I,m wrong as I,m a big 1-18th collector, so I would like the source of this brand new info to keep my spirits high.

I was thinking the opposite, Gary, that if this release notice is accurate, that it might be a sign that they're doing well, at least in terms of sales. Of course, they could be doing well, sales-wise, but still lay off workers, to reduce their costs.

In any case, a 1/18th scale 88 sounds pretty cool. Gives the 1/18th P-51 and P-47 a ground target.

Prost!

Baron, I,m afraid 21st "ist kaput".
They announced this 88 close to a year ago, along with a king tiger in 1-18th.
In an article in cyber hobby, it states don,t look for anything new from 21st for any time in the immediate future, plus their 1-32 line is done.
Also from what I read WalMart dropped 21st.
I was in my WalMart today, the store is now a super center, and there were no 21st products.

Yes, I'd seen the WalMarts in our area removing 21st Century from their shelves back in the spring, I think. I was keen on the 1/18th scale aircraft. Of course, the selection in the stores wasn't that great. We seemed to get only P-47s, P-51s, and Me-109s. Occasionally, very occasionally, we'd get the odd P-40, and I once saw an F-104. Now, when I say the selection wasn't great, that's not to put down any of the aircraft I mentioned. I mean that that was it, and I never saw any of the other aircraft in their catalog.

There may have some regional distribution, too. I used to collect Starting Lineup baseball player figures, but I only collect the Phillies. Now, this is Southestern PA, the Phils' backyard. But I only once saw Phillies figures in our stores. So I emailed the company and found that WalMart distributed figures to markets other than their home markets. So, we got primarily West Coast teams, while they got a lot of East Coast teams. I never understood that, because, apart from a couple of teams with fans all over the country, like the Yankees, for example, I would expect the figures to sell best in their home markets.

Anyway, even when WalMart carried the line, it seemed like distribution had shifted to dealers, whether via the Web, mail order or shows, and the secondary market.

Well, they're still maintaining their website, so perhaps it's a retrenching.

Prost!

Speaking of 1/18th aircraft, I remembered an item I saw about a company coming out with a 1/18th SBD, which TFCT never made. I remember now-Admiral Toys. Does anyone else know anything about them? Their aircraft were very similar to TFCT's, so similar, in fact, that they could be made by the same factory in China, using the same molds. I've been to their website, and it's a little kludgy in spots, with links on the main page that don't go anywhere. But you can get to their catalog and see their offerings.

Has anyone here ever bought their stuff?

Prost!

Baron I had seen one in TRU about 8 months ago. I did not get it as on the 1-18th board there were numerous complaints about when assembling the plane the wings did not fit correctly.
As a person who can screw up putting a light bulb in I did not want to take a chance.
Gary

Thanks, Gary! I've got it on my want list for 1/18th, I've got lots of putty :D

:) Toys- are -Us, is back with a Contract to once again, and carrying 21St Century Toys, and I spoke with one of the Reps. at 21st Century Toys and the 88th Gun is going to be Released this month September. 2008! Also, they just releast a Spitfire Plane in the 1/32nd Scale, and is listed on E-Bay Ultimate Soldier site! CIAO!

The Me 262 night fighter is the pick of the bunch

Good news!

:) I just Spoke with 21st Century Rep.; he told me the 88th Gun will be out and Released before Christmas, and they are planning to make the B-25 Bomber WW2 in 1/18th scale , and I also Mentioned for the 10th Time and told them to possible make the "HORSA" AIRBORNE Asssault Glider and the C-47 "DAKOTA" in 1/18th scale , it will have Wing Span just like K&C Wood Original of 33''Wide! ;):D CIAO!

Occasionaly the new 1/18 items turn up at China mart at quite a savings,I found the P40 and Mig 15 on the day they arrived but only two available.

So it sounds like TCT is not in that much trouble, if they are sticking to development and delivery schedules.

Heck, if they're planning a C-47, can a B-17 be far behind? (drool, drool)

Of course a B17 or two,,a G model and a B-D,,then a B24D,"Hail Columbia", Killer Kane at Ploesti.

I'm still waiting for 21st Century's 1/18th King Tiger to come out - if it ever materializes, it will make K&C's look puny by comparison yet cost less than half the price. But at least we can count on K&C's one coming out on time.
