Thanks Richard and Ken:

Let's hope this sampling of figures become a HUGE HIT! Frankly these are great and all of the new lines you're releasing look terrific. I love the personality figures (Washington, Lincoln, etc.). The Building facades are beautiful and a very interesting concept.

I can't wait to see these babies at the West Coaster Show (Irving, CA), Sunday March 8th 9am-3pm and room trading a couple of days earlier.

BTW, these pictures are from Treefrog and specifically from the "The Treefrog Rivet" weekly newsletter. This is a great source of timely information consistently released weekly. Thanks Shannon and Pete.

Thanks Carlos!
There are the same number and mix for the next go around too. We are adding figures that are logical additions to the first series, without overwhelming the dealers or collectors.
See you at the West Coaster.

Really disappointing...

WW2 : still guys with rifles or machine gun, still not german bazooka, officers with Lüger or Colt45...

Zulu war matte : 2 officers, but with rifles  why not with sword and pistol?

Napoleonics : the half of the range is civilian people !

By luck, WW1 will come 3 mounted cuirassiers; that goes up the level a few …

As regards the officers in the Zulu War release, Bromhead and Chard both used rifles in their defense of Rorke's Drift. the depiction of the rifles is historically correct. -- lancer

Correct, I've seen the movie

but aesthetically, that would have been better!

I find this future W.Britain releases broadly disappointing.

This is not for the whole year remember. I am sure there will be more suprises install for us. The civilians are not necessarily meant for the Napoleonic release, they are also a new series designed to compliment the series if you so wished. On the whole I think it's a great line up and most of the series I don't even collect.

There's some really nice poses amongst these, particularly the US Airborne Lt. and the German with the Stg 44.

That's a fact. Because no British soldiers either, however would be desirable an officer with Webley, and lying soldiers firing PIAT

And fallschirmjägern firing Panzerfaust, and flamethrower, too. It's enough, soldier with rifle or Schmeisser!

What scale are these figures? The Britain WWII figures I have are close to the Honor Bound size, slightly smaller but will work well with the new KC releases (The older sculpts are bigger). Just my personal observation.

Hi All!
These figures are consistent with the first WWII release under First Gear and also the ONWTC WWII figures I sculpted while a partner in that company. These measure 56mm tall like all of the W. Britain Matte finish ranges.
As a side note this would also make them the same size as the injection molded GIs that Conte licensed from me.
Several other figures are finished already but we held them for the Spring flyer. The next selection includes more GIs, Commonwealth Infantry and of course members of the Heer, Luftwaffe and Waffen SS.
We eventually hope to have enough poses to build a rifle section for each branch of service when we are done, along with the appropriate heavy weapons support. This requires several variations of basic riflemen and sub machine guns so there is method to our madness. Interestingly enough, a few are in poses that were noted as missing, so I guess patience is in order.
All the Best!

Ken,

Please understand me: I disparage neither your talent, nor your work _ I have many figures carved by you , like the W.BRITAIN WW2 British soldiers who're my favourites, and many many more _ but I deplore a certain lack of originality of the manufacturers : even same wars, even same armies, and... even same poses! Do you realize that we don't have only one suitable GI firing Colt45? On the other hand with Garand or M1 rifle, trizes with the dozen! Even report about German firing panzerfaust etc...

I am sure that it is you who carve the WB 24th foot soldiers Zulu War, but not the Museum Collection (Black Watch) , correct?

Can't wait to expand my forces!!!

Very nice! Ken mentioned that there would be more WW2 "Normandy vintage" troops and these are worth the wait.

I had to add a bunch to my Wish List.

Hi there!
As far as the question about the various series and who worked on them.
We have had three sculptors working on various ranges since First Gear acquired W. Britain. Every single pattern is inspected by Richard Walker and I before it is duplicated to check for pose and historical accuracy. In some cases we make changes to the originals if needed. After they are duplicated here in the States we each get multiple copies for paint masters, production masters and as a record. This also allows the various sculptors to standardize parts for a 'company look'.

Alan Ball and I both have created figures for the AZW series. All but three of the 24th foot to date have been sculpted by me, where Alan has sculpted all but five of the Zulus. As we move forward we will both continue to add new figures to this range. We both work very hard to maintain a consistent look within the Britain's family.

The Museum series had all of the originals patterned by Alan Ball with additional details and modifications to certain figures made here. One of the results of our system has been the creation of the new Black Watch additions to the Napoleonic range. Alan and I both worked on all of these figures and I think the results are pretty good. As we add additional talent to the team we will all work hard to insure compatibility of newer releases with existing product lines.

The creation of any release is truly a collaborative effort of research, sculpting, painting, mold making and production coordination. All of the members of our small team are passionate about the hobby, history and the art of creating the products that are produced by 1st Gear/W. Britain.

The new catalog has some background information on all of us to give you a peek at our process.
I hope this helps!
Ken

Thank you Carlos and Ken for the timely information on the new figures. They look very good and I appreciate all the work and comments about the new releases. Leadmen
