I have a question for someone who has more knowledge of the Napoleonic Wars than I do. Are the Build-a-Rama gibons and the gun emplacement (bunker) #BAR05-056, compatable to that period in time? The only information I can recall about gun batteries is seeing them out in the open (from some paintings I saw in Europe). The gibons always seem to be shown in US Civil War period paintings and pictures of battlefields. But something seems to me that they are a much older style of defense than just from the middle 1800's.

They did use these kind of prepared defences when they had time to prepare them. Look at the lines of torres the british built in the peninsular(vast earth works and gun inplacements used in conjuction with the moutianous areas natural defences) and the great redoubt the russians built at borodino, that battery held 19-21 cannons in an earthen mound with a 10 metre wide ditch in front and what they call wolf holes(randum holes scatered all over) to prevent cavalry attack. They had specail units of engineers munch like today whos job it was to build bridges and prepair stuff like this, they along with the sappers and with help from the troops would preform such tasks. Tree frog has on their site a group of painted metal french engineers by manes mazaro in their trench armour. the british engineers wore a leather piece that covered the chest like a butcher almost like a sapper but covered the whole chest and had a funny hat to go with it.All nations at that time had engineers. I hope this helps you. TIM

Thanks for the info on the defenses. The Manes Mazaro French Engineers look interesting. One more question, how do they match up with King & Country? Michael:)

I,m not sure how they match in size but i believe they are 54mm not 60mm. I,ve had my eye on them a few times at some point i,ll get them.heres a picture of some napoleonic trenching.

Pete or Shannon, how do the Manes Mazaro French Engineers compare side-by-side to K&C Napoleonics? Michael:)

Hi Michael!
The Marzano pieces are indeed 54mm . Unless they were placed far apart from each other in a diorama (and with what I know about your dioramas I know that's a possibility!) they would look awkward together. Also Marzano tends to paint the uniforms very battle worn, almost dirty at times which looks cool, but again wouldn't match up as well with the bright colors of K&C. If you have any more Marzano questions just let us know.

Shannon
