The new Canadian Militia from John are going to be fantastic. We have never had Canadian militia figures revisited for the Monongahela range. I can see so many uses for these figures. Very few folks were lucky back in 2006 to get some of these limited edition figures.

I am just really looking forward to getting these.

Sadly, only in the dream I had last night. It felt so real.

I am hoping that folks will also say how much they want some Canadian militia.

I want them so much, I'm dreaming about them.

Yeah,
I know what you mean.Even in the smaller scales there doesn't seem much militia and when there is it's just a static standard pose.

I hate just a static pose. The poses have to have life to them. Especially when our dioramas set up is more of a skirmish. We have a lot of great Indian poses and the early rangers and those from a few years back are really good.

I love something different.Britain's indian jumping over the fence is a great one.Loved Conte's animation. TCS has great animation but hasn't done FIW.

My preference is for well sculpted figures. While John's Indians have nearly always been very good, the very early rangers and early French Militia were not his best work. The later rangers are much better figures.

Clearly, an updated release of French Militia would be highly welcome. As for myself, my preference would be for more camp scenes figures, officer conferences, tradesman, or a theme release, similar to the French Army figures in WWI which all hold together (maybe his best figure work ever). I am very fond of the relaxed 60th releases - canteen, at ease and pipe smoking figures. No objection to these being French Militia.

A club set release for Lt. Colonel Thomas Gage and an Indian War Canoe (big canoe - 8 - 10 figures) are at the top of my wish list, as is a 32-pounder garrison cannon, but I would settle for an 24 or 18 pounder (amazing no manufacturer is offering a stand alone garrison cannon (pirate/ship gun carriage; barrel length would be similar regardless of cannon bore, just the thickness of the barrel would vary).

Unsure if a release of Monongahela depicting the retreating British would be as popular as the French WWI releases that depict a similar theme, but catching magic in the same bottle twice is most difficult. Officer conferences at Ticonderoga or Quebec seem more plausible for a theme release - large campaign tents, tables, props, plus a dozen or so single figures with the officer from the 44th being the most animated as he can do double duty at Monongahela and Ticonderoga. Both British and French plus both Ticonderoga and Quebec (Wide Overlaps).

Oooooh Matthew, that was so cold-frosted. I saw your first post and said, "Oh hell yeah!" and then saw you dreamed it and said "Aw, hell no!"

Count me in for Canadian militia, too. In fightin' poses, please. Please.

Static poses "standing on attention" collection would be a mess, but that's not what JJD is doing.
Static poses like resing in a camp, drinking, talking, smoking, etc. are great.

Exactly the same with me...

Ken,

You speak for me in all your comments. I have had similar thoughts....wishes. A big canoe set would be nice but I am also thinking of a large canoe for use in a trading scene like the one depicted in this Robert Griffing print as it would have a lot of accessories with it:

This is very nice but by the time you bought everything and had it painted it would probably cost between $1200-$1500.I think it's 12.2" long.

Marco has a point on the overall price. My gut says it would be less than $1,000, closer to $700 - $800 or even less, but that still would trouble some buyers. I would release the figure pieces slowly over time, not at one fell swoop. I would be happy with first the canoe itself and then a figure or 2 ever other month or so.

The Montreal canoe is $64,You buy a head set (8) for the Canadiens which is $25.Most of the figures in their colonial range is about $40 each.So for 8 figures and canoe your talking over $400 plus accessories you may want to add.My main painter charges $130-$150 a figure.I have started using another painter who charges about $75 a figure so even at $75 a figure your talking another $600 plus whatever the canoe might be.
