How about producing the Hunley and crew and you can never go wrong with artillery.

What do you guys think we will see in Diorama pieces from Andy on this Range?

I cant wait for the K&C Version of Civil War Artillery :D

Repeat after me. I am powerless over toy soldiers and my finances are a shambles:D

Rob

I have bad news for you - my friend. ACTION IS COMING

You cant have a Toy Soldier Shop in the South and not have action.

Better get the checkbook ready. ;)

KV....You've said it all....as far as I'm concerned, with a one word addition;
I am powerless over toy soldiers and my finances are a complete shambles
I am powerless over toy soldiers and my finances are a complete shambles
I am powerless over toy soldiers and my finances are a complete shambles
etc. etc.

Civil War artillary Ron? Please, have mercy. It'll only mean I add another range to my collection with the inevitable result that my finances become even more of a shambles.

I am powerless over toy soldiers and my finances are a complete shambles

I am powerless over toy soldiers and my finances are a complete shambles

I am powerless over toy soldiers and my finances are a complete shambles

(What can I sell now to pay for my next treefrog order? mutter, mumble, etc.)

Standard replies include (in no particular order):

1. Wife
2. Children
3. House
4. Somebody else's house
5. Mother in law (popular choice)
6. A kidney
7. Rob's kidney (you'll have to move quickly on this one, another popular choice and they're limited editions)
8. Don't sell anything but turn to a life of crime.(K&C warehouse heist etc)

Hope that's given some food for thought. :)

Simon

Also, forget the "I'll put the kidney on ebay" routine. Been tried and banned. Kid you not. Someone actually tried this a few years back.

Some pretty good options there Simon.
Have just finished a fasinating book called; King, Kaiser, Tsar by Catherine Clay which studies the relationships between George V, Wilmelm II and Nicholas II, all three of whom were grandson's of Victoria It leads up to the outbreak of WW1, then goes on to describe what happened to all three (love the way the book illustrates just how stoopid all three of them were).

Anyway, this has sparked an interest in the "March on Paris" WW1 range. I do like the look of these early war figurines and don't think I'd be too interested in anything depicting the trench warfare.

So, let's see now, what's on the short term K&C wish-list;
March on Paris
American Civil War
New Coldtream Guards & Couriassers
and by no means least, the simply irresistable K&C UK Crimea range which I understand is going to get some add-on's soon.

Aye, given that little lot, then bankruptcy beckons....no doubt about it. 'Specially as my credit card has just gotten over the scare it had when I bought the entire Scot's Grey's range in one fell swoop.

Oh well, given what I've seen on the forum, it looks like I'm in good company....

Harry,

I see your avatar is the cover of the original Flashman book. As I have stated many times on this forum, George MacDonald Frasier, along with Rudyard Kipling, are my favorite authors. There are a few other Flashman fans on the forum, so you are in good company. By the way, did you see the K&C Collectors Club figure of "Jumping Jack Flashman", the "brother of the Harry Flashman from Tom Brown's Schooldays". I joined the club just to get that figure (which is right off the cover of one of the Flashman books).

As an aside, Andy worked with George MacDonald Frasier's daughter in an ad-agency back in the early '70's, told her he was a big fan of her dad's books, and actually had coffee with Mr. MacDonald Frasier. I can tell you that the Flashman books, along with the Dand MacNeil/MacAuslan books got me hooked on history, and started me on the path to toy soldier collecting. Its pretty cool that Andy is a big fan too, kind of brings it all together for me.

Funnily enough, the Jumping Jack Flashman figurine was the reason I joined the Collectors Club in the first place. I have all the Flashman books (amazingly enough, they were all bought here in the Middle East despite the somewhat risque content at times - Its the shear humour in them together with the historically accurate detail that makes them so good). I'm sure I read somewhere that its the intention to release more figures based on the book covers. Certainly hope so, together with the lovely "ornaments" that are depicted on the same covers.
Aye, Dand MacNeil. Hmmm....Believe it or not, I recognized a few MacAuslan's when I was in the Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders Volunteer Reserve several, (well - a lot of), years ago. They really do exist....
Kiplings "Kim" is also excellent and "The Man Who Would Be King" is a fantastic movie adaptation.
I know this is a Toy Soldier Forum and not a bookclub, but if you have a chance, I recommend "Soldier Sahibs" by Clive Allan and almost anything by Peter Hopkirk for a taste of the North-West Frontier and the Sepoy Mutiny.
Getting back to GMF, I wish I could get together with him for something stronger than a coffee. Willing to bet the conversation would be a pure hoot from start to finish.
Okay, sorry if I've bored anyone, but books are my fourth most enjoyed hobby, next to Guinness and K&C.:D

Cheers,
H
