The new Collector is out, and on the back page is a picture of the next release of Foreign Legion due for February, including Gen. DeGaulle. Just thought some of you might like to know.

Yep got this on Saturday and it also has good articles on Chicago and the new 262

Rob

I haven't seen the Collector and it's not on the main site or K & C & UK but is it De Gaulle or Leclerc (as DeGaulle had nothing to do with the Free French in the Desert)?

Of course, having a De Gaulle figure is a good idea.

It doesn't name De Gaulle but it looks like him, nice figure inspecting the troops on parade. I think there are good things coming in the next Dispatches, but then there always is!:)

Rob,

Do you think you can post a scan of the page?

Sorry for camera flash, quite overcast today.

Thanks. I noticed that there was some writing hinting at a General but couldn't see the whole thing. Unless it said De Gaulle, who was very tall, I think this may be Leclerc (but I could be wrong).

BTW, this looks like it will be a nice release with the officer (whoever it may be) reviewing the troops in front of a very nice dio piece which could be used for many different purposes. Hopefully, the dio piece will be made commercially.

Sorry about that Brad, poor picture. However the advert does not name any general in person, just the word General.

No, Rob, the picture was fine and I appreciate it, thanks.

How did you guys receive the new Collector before it's even on the website?

Andy very kindly brought a few with him to London on Saturday and I was lucky enough to get one.

Same cap and face

It is De Gaulle.
At the moment of the battle of Kouffra or Bir Hakeim, Leclerc wasn't general yet.

and De Gaulle is often show with a cigaret.

I wan't to say to Andy thank for free french force.

"Ne me dites pas que c'est impossible!"

Actually, I'm thinking maybe it's General Pierre Koenig, as he was responsible for the defense of Bir Hakeim. Might be interesting to have a figure of Susan Travers, his driver, who received a Croix de Guerre (I believe) for her actions during Bir Hakeim.

At any rate, it will be a figure worth picking up.

 The FOB34 French Officer Figure , could be Re-Painted, and used in N.Africa!, with the Legionaire's Fighting ( Bir Harkim)!;):) Also. Andy should have made a HEAVY MG Team and a Mortar Team? CIAO !

How about General GIRAUD ( also had a moustache) he was the commander in chief of part of the 13 DBLE that took the German side. The other half of the 13DBLE took the side of the Free French.
In Bir Hakeim legion fought against legion.
Guy;)
