American Civil War, I felt it was getting time for something different....Been watching JJD from a distance for some time now.but after seeing one to many of Mike Millers excellent dioramas i thought what the heck...Go for it!!!!!....Thanks for putting temptation in my way Mike, and for your advise. One thing is for sure, there are going to be many more of those lovely red boxes arriving at my door in the near future!!!

Steve...

that's one of the nicest compliments I have ever received...

one of the few in my life...^&grin...but one of the nicest...

you will really enjoy the vibrant colors and fantastic sculpts that John does...

his "hand to hand" sets are terrific...

it's a great series that he has excelled at producing...

congrats to you on your acquisitions...they will really grow on you...

Nice to have a new convert to JJD and to the Jacobite series. As I have said on this forum many times, I believe the Jacobite series is the single best series of figures available on the market. Action packed and fantastically colorful, they are just unequaled. Enjoy them. -- Al

Congratulations, Steve,
for taking the step and start with John Jenkins Designs.
The Jacobite Rebellion series by John definitely includes some of the finest figures on the market.

Thanks Mike..you"re very welcome..and thanks Lancer!!. the JJD Jacobite series is indeed First class work. I was amazed at the quality of the figures, the metal used by JJD is very heavy and strong..no bendy muskets or broadswords here!!..the animation is full of action and the painting is absolutely wonderfull!!...I love my figures already and knowing myself as i do i probabaly will not rest till i have the series more or less complete!!.

Steve...the JJD Culloden Moor series is one of the sturdiest group of figures you will ever find...like the Snow Shoes...they are extremely heavy and virtually indestructable...as are most of the JJD figures...you are right...the swords...bayonets...muskets...they will not bend and break off easily...I don't recommend it...but I have dropped more than one JJD figure on the floor and they survived with no damage...it is a quality product...they are meant to be played with...hard to damage...I know a lot of people use them in "war gaming"...perhaps because they are so sturdy...you will also find the paint hard to chip...congrats again...it's a lovely series...

Welcome to the forum, Aidman.

As most of you know, I am still solidly entrenched in the FIW, the single exception is the Jacobite Series, which I also collect.

However, my vote for best JJD figures are still the American Indian Sets, especially the early BOM fighting sets. Many of those figures are near perfection, at least in my opinion.

Congratulations Steve!

The complete series thus far makes a very impressive display and we still have more Dragoons and some French Royal Ecossais Regiment sets coming.

Welcome Steve to the JJD world.

I am a War of 1812 collector with a Raid on St. Francis thrown in for good measure. Of course I added a few BAL items and WIM Indians and, uuummmmm .... more than I thought. Well, my Armies are finally getting to size and time to start showing off a bit of the collection. Not sure if I can compete with the master dio builders but I will give it a shot.

I know you will really enjoy teh JJD and we all will be looking forward to seeing what you have! --- Larry

Thanks guys for your warm welcome to the JJD sub-forum.. I see from your comments that you are all very passionate in your JJD figure collecting!!...Obviously each has his favorite Series, Mine has to be the Jacobites...A little Scots blood in my veins, many happy vacations spent in the Scottish highlands..and quite a large helping of that Scots rebellious spirit!!!...But whatever your choice all the Series from JJD
look to me to be excellent...Give me a couple of months to get my collection together and put them in a diorama...(idea already in my head)
and i will post some pics!!..Mike..funny you should mention the Snowshoes Series, that would be my definate second choice...maybe next if
i"m not too late!!.

Steve-
Always nice to hear from a new JJ collector. It's been interesting to follow the rise in popularity of these figures over the past several years. I can remember seeing the very first JJ sets in a local shop and then a few folks started posting here about them. Fortunately I got some of the early sets which are long since gone. And I agree that the Jacobites are among his best. One thing I've noticed with his figures is that the more you get, the better they look when displayed. Maybe it is has something to do with John's background in theatre design but they really tell a story. Last but not least John is a class act and credit to the hobby. There seems to be a lot of bickering and ill will with some other manufacturers but you won't come across that here. In large part because John is such a likeable. If you ever get a chance to talk with him at the shows take advantage.

Hi Combat......thanks for the welcome to the sub-forum. I hope to be going to the London Toy Soldier Show at the end of the month, I don"t know if John will be present, lets hope so!! It"s a long way to go to share a couple of beers with the Treefroggers..(I live in the Netherlands)
but I"m sure that i will be returning with 1 or 2 sets of toy soldiers to add to my collection.....just maybe JJD???????.

Steve

Hi Steve,
Glad that you are enjoying the figures! Both Adam and I at JJDUK are collectors first, regarding the show this month, unfortunately John won't be coming this time. Although we hope that he will be back for the December show.
Look forward to meeting you and chatting JJD there!
James
