Good Morning

From a cold and very wet Northern California. Here are the latest announcements for John’s April releases, as always we hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Yesterday we received BAL-002 - British Artillery Limber, with 6lb Cannon. It is absolutely superb, so much so that we immediately went and re-ordered it.

If you are coming to the WestCoaster Show, we hope you will stop by on Saturday afternoon from about 2.00pm and meet John Jenkins who we are hosting in our room. Also if you live in the San Francisco Bay Area or are just visiting, we hope you can visit our store on Wednesday 11, March from about 1.00pm to meet John, who we are hosting in our first open house with him. For more details please contact us. sales@sierratoysoldier.com

Hope you like the new releases.

Battle of Monongahela, 1755 or any Campaign in the French & Indian Wars and of course the American Revolution.
In the field the British artillery was served by a well organized system of rolling stock. As well as the limbers, there were wagons for carrying ammunition, powder carts for extra powder, and 2 wheeled tumbrels for general supplies.
These sets are designed for those collectors who would like to have single wagons and carts as diorama pieces, as well as horse drawn carts and wagons.

THE JACOBITE REBELLION 1745
This figure is the second of 6 that have been inspired by the famous David Morier painting “An Incident in the Rebellion of 1745”, which was painted around 1750 and shows the Jacobites engaging the right flank of Barrell’s Regiment at Culloden. The painting is part of The Royal Collection, of Her Majesty the Queen, and today hangs above a doorway in Holyrood House in Edinburgh.

THE BATTLE OF CHIPPEWA July 5th 1814
The British Regiment at this time usually consisted of 10 companies. Eight of these were line companies and 2 were flank companies. These flank companies were usually positioned on the flanks of the regiment when formed in Line. On the right flank was the Grenadier Company, and on the Left flank would be found the Light Company.
At Chippewa the 3 Light companies from the 3 regular British regiments had been earlier deployed in the woods to secure the British right wing, against the advancing Pennsylvanians and Indians of Brig.Gen Peter B. Porter’s third Brigade. Although the British Light companies were to successfully drive off the American Brigade, the fighting in the woods were described as “scenes of indescribable horror”

WOW these new sets are going to make some very interesting displays - Thanks!

Very nice. What exactly does "retirement" mean for sets that are limited to specified production numbers? I assume they are available until they have sold out.

Actually, I think that means that he did not produce the full amount of the specific production numbers?

Guys

Hope the following information helps.

We anticipate the next Snowshoes release to be announced in April for delivery in May. This is not a promise, just a reasonable estimate.

On the retirements. We should maybe have called it "Coming to the End". It is just the accepted term seems to be retirements. In most cases John has produced the maximum number, and will not be exceeding the limited number he set. In some cases, I do not know if it applies to any of these, but it can be cost prohibitive to manufacturer the final few sets of a particular figure, without sharply increasing price. So it is a balance end a run of a figure versus increasing the price. I think the great thing is you know that the production number has not been exceeded.

Hope this helps.

Morning,

As a collector it would be nice to know how many there were issued of each set if this is not the maximum originally stated. The certificates in each box states xx of xxx, but obviously if xxx were not actually produced, then in reality I have xx of yyy. Does that make sense?

This Monongahela series is starting to get out of hand. My guess is that next month John will release Fort Duquesne!!! :D

i agree i love the figures but my diorama looks excellent and i cant add anymore to it. I will probably pass on future releases unless they are just amazing which is possible!

I was thinking the same thing but I ordered the limber set the other day. I probably won’t stop until my glass shelf shatters from the weight.
