Good Morning everyone from a boiling hot Northern California, where the temperature here will exceed 100 degrees. Here we have the latest releases from John, which I thought could not exceed the quality of last months releases. Well it is nice to be wrong just once.

Last month we had the opportunity to set up the latest John Jenkins releases in our new store. The Wigwam has become a center piece in our new display not only because it looks magnificent, but also you can easily build a complete Indian village scene with Canoe’s, Rangers in Whale Boats, Ranger Huts and Stockade. The new release in the Raid on St Francis, “The Gatherers”, will add so much to this. I think this whole set up on Indian life in the mid 1700’s is simply amazing and it looks terrific. Stop by and have a look.

We will post them on our site later this morning.

BATTLE ON SNOWSHOES

After the initial success of the ambush, the Rangers were taken by surprise by the second force of 300 French and Canadians under Langy.
The Rangers now finding themselves outnumbered fell back to the more advantageous higher ground, where they were to temporarily stop the French counter attack.
As the battle continued and darkness approached, Langy new he had to press the French attack before it was too late. Rogers knowing he would be overwhelmed, reluctantly gave the order to run for it! Given no need for further prodding the surviving Rangers were to flee, dispersing in groups of two and threes for the safety of their base camp at the lake four miles away.

THE BATTLE OF CHIPPEWA July 5th 1814

From the time of the first skirmishes in the woods, the battle was only to take three and a half hours.
The battle was relatively short, but bloody, according to official returns, over seven hundred men were killed or wounded in the fields and woods.
Despite the smoke, confusion of the battle, and the inherent inaccuracy of the weapons many of the men of Scotts’ infantry were using aimed fire, and their targets were usually the officers, along the British line.
The 1st. Regiment of Foot were recorded to have had 10 officers killed or wounded.

THE RAID ON ST. FRANCIS

Luckily not all the sets this month include wounded or dead figures.
The “sister” set to last months “The Hunters” depicts two Woodland Indian women, maybe sisters…gathering firewood, corn and …. information.

THE JACOBITE REBELLION 1745

Total Jacobite casualties during the battle were estimated to have been 1,500-2,000 killed or wounded.
Stewart of Appin’s Regiment, originally at the start of the campaign was recorded as having 250 men. Although having apparently suffered heavily from desertion during the battle it was recorded to have had 90 killed and 65 wounded.

The two figures depicted in this new set, are also taken from the David Morier painting “An Incident in the Rebellion of 1745”.

Thank you for posting the new releases Mike,

Great stuff.

I'm glad to see some wounded Jacobites, an officer to the Brits at Chippawa and the Rangers are much needed.

I will get all four sets.

Please post your Indian village photos.
