Thought I'd open a new thread on the subject of what the new K&C Ranges might be. There's been quite a few suggestions, so what have we got, in no particular order, and entirely my personal opinions..??

a) Victorian British Empire
Maybe. It's certainly been one of the favourite subjects for TS down the years. Could be made to fit in with Flashy ( :) )
Zulu War, Boer War, NW Frontier, 1st Afghan War
Out of the 4 examples above, I would think that NW Frontier would win it by a nose.

b) Cromwell, British Civil Wars
Potential to be an interesting subject, but international appeal..?? Hmmm....Dunno.

c) Custer and 7th Cavalry
Another interesting one, little bit limited in scope maybe..?? Having said that, K&C do a range devoted entirely to one battle (Alamo), so it might be in with a shout.

d) Mongols
My personal favourite and a range I would love to see developed.
Asian, wide scope, mainly cavalry (if offered as action figures). Don't think its a subject that's been covered to any great extent by anyone else, although Tinbay's figures look very attractive in the photo's

e) Trojan War
A very close second in my personal favourites. It has everything. Larger than Life personalities, Gods and Goddesses if we wanted them. West vs East.
Doesn't need to feature exclusively on the Illiad. Could be adapted to the Oddessy. Circe, Cyclops, etc.

f) Israeli/Arab conflicts 1948 to Present
Hmmm....maybe too controversial..and too up-to-date..?? - although this has never been an issue for K&C before, eg. the Iraq figures. Wouldn't appeal too much to me, but yeah, equipment-wise and with diverse AFV's, it could be an interesting subject.

g) Arthurian Britain
Potential to be a wonderful, wonderful, subject. Could actually be a dark horse. Britons, Picts, Irish, Saxons, Angles. Possibility of moving a little bit into Sword and Sorcery..??

h) Conquistadors & Aztecs
Seems to have its champions here on this forum. Another potentially interesting subject.

i) Falklands Conflict
Not much chance - although you never know..?? Along with a Northern Ireland "Troubles" Range it might be a bit too recent - and carries the risk of being too contoversial - Just my opinion of course.

j) American West
Out of all the suggestions I've seen recently, I think this would be a clear favourite. As Pierre suggested, a sort of SOHK - but set in the West. A sort of Louis Lamour Range maybe..?? It also would have everything, with instantly recognisable characters;
The Town Marshall
The Sackett's
The Livery Stable Employees
The Bank and it's Employees
The Saturday Night Jamboree (A La She Wore A Yellow Ribbon)
The Saloon and Bartender
The Empire-Building Cattleman/Rancher
The Saloon Gals
The Piano Player (I want to be the model for that one..:p:p:))
The Poker Game
The Town Barber Shop
The Farmer and His Family
The Town Blacksmith
The Town Drunk
The Off Duty 6th Cavalrymen
The Evil Goldmine Owner
The Cowpokes
The Mayor
The Original Indigenous North American Inhabitants
The Mountain Men
The Railroad
The Gunslinger
The Kid
I could go on, but you get the idea. The more I think on it, the more convinced I am that this is going to be one of the new ranges.
But then again....What do I know..??....:eek::eek::confused::):):)

Must admit that I'm interested in any negative or positive or even nuetral responses to the above musings.

Cheers

Whatever the new ranges are, I am sure they are going to cause more spacial and financial discord in all of our homes.:p

One range will be train wagons and tracks and a limited edition steam train

:D Streets of the Old Wild West has it for me. :D

That would definatley tempt me into buying some K&C. I can just see it now, all the facades lined up with figures on the boardwalks, the stage coach pulling into town. Harry !! get sculpting :D:D:D

If only it were the war od 1812.....I know he has said no in the past but you never know.....

Great list H,

You put much thought into it and any Toy Soldier manufacturer should take a close look into it when deciding what next to produce. For me, I’m your typical egocentric American that is attracted to historical battles involving the USA however I must say the Victorian Age and the British Empire has always intrigued me.

The “Old West” and the US Calvary series are great ideas. I wonder how Black Hawks “7th Calvary” is doing?

Yep Harry the list would be endless,
Bank Robbers
Cattle Rustlers
Borax Mule team
Sutlers
Homesteaders
Gambler
The dead guys in the casket with photographer
Scenics
Boot Hill
Windmill
Cattle drive
Chuck wagon
corral
lynching
dry good store
adobe buildings

I go for this one.

e) Trojan War
A very close second in my personal favourites. It has everything. Larger than Life personalities, Gods and Goddesses if we wanted them. West vs East.
Doesn't need to feature exclusively on the Illiad. Could be adapted to the Oddessy. Circe, Cyclops, etc.

My humble guess is that we will see the Boxer rebellion and the French Foreign Legion.

Anglo-Egyptian and Anglo-Sudan Wars of 1880s-1890s. Below are Perry Miniatures 28mm versions of the subject. Just think of these in 60mm!!!

Yes, I think you make a very compelling argument Randy. You know I would love to see these in 60mm. So many glorious possibilities here.

What about DanceHall Girlies!!:D

There are many good choices on Harry's list but I am still partial to (e) (or its 9th Century Saxon-Dane equivalent). I surely would love to see Hywelbane, Sword of Derfel Cadarn, Champion of Dumnonia, taken from and named for his brutally murdered sword master or Serpent-Breath, the lovely and lethel blade of Uhtred Ragnarson, forged in the north by a Saxon smith who had known his trade. Nice to dream, no matter what the result.:D Besides, it will only cost me if I am right.

Oh It Would So Nice To Get Back Into Some Good Ol Cowboy And Indian Glory Days, Seriously Though My Wwii Love Started With My Marx Battleground Playset And The Rest Is History, Shortly After The Marx Battleground, Came The Fort Appache, So In Turn I Would Love To See Some Western Style Releases I Loved Those Cowboys And Indians As Much As My Americans And Germans....sammy

7 year war, Frederick the Great, Marlborough, any mid 18th century European. Any Victorian era wars like Sudan or Indian Mutiny etc. Mongols would be fantastic or even mideast figures from Caliphate eras 7-9 century. All the suggestions sound OK to me but I really would like to see the Mongol range:).

FFL,Indian wars in US 1812-1845, Mongols,British NWF,Custer,Arthur,Wellington in India.

Well, I just got my latest issue of Smithsonian magazine- there is an article of the US Army's war agains the Mormons in Utah 150 years ago- maybe that's it!! :D:eek:

Ha-Ha. As soon as I saw that suggestion I got an instant mindflash of the Eagles "Desperado" album.

"Go down little Doolin it must be God's spell"
"Two brothers lying dead in Coffeeville"
"Two voices call to you from where they stood"
"Lay down your lawbooks now they're no d****d good"

This is what I mean though Shiloh, there are instantly recognisable images in all of your suggestions above.
The necktie party = Has to be Clint in "Hang Them High"
The bank robbers = Has to be the James-Younger gang
The Gambler/Dentist = Has to be Victor Mature
The Cattle Drive = Has to be the one and only DUKE..!!

And who could ever forget Chief Dan George (think that's his name) in "The Outlaw Josie Wales".

Then there's;
The Carpetbagger
The "Not-Very-Happy" post-war Confederate vets
The Mexican Bandits
The Greenhorn (Jimmy Stewart)
The Preacher
The Town Doc
The Mountain Men/Trappers
The "Nice" and Most Certainly Courageous Homesteaders Daughter (Grace Kelly)

Sheesh.....and so on.....:):)

I honestly think a range like The Streets of Old Dodge City would be a winner as it carries such wide appeal.

I would still rather have The Mongol Empire, but that's just me. Hey-wait a minute - TWO new ranges we were told......:D:D:cool:
Cheers
