Clive,
its great to see a new maker on the scene, especially someone who is making figures in the same vain as Toy Army Workshop
I'm really glad that WW1 Artillery is the first out of the production line, the gun and figures look very accurate, and I love the painting style, a detailed gloss finish, and all of the varieties of uniforms for the different campaigns.
Well Done !!!!!!
The only drawback I can see is the choice of poses and types of figures used in the set. All of the sets shown only have 3 gunners loading the gun, and an officer.
On a gun detachment for this sort of gun there would be about 6 to 10 gunners manning the gun, with a sergeant in charge.
There would only be one officer per section of gun on the gun line, not one on each gun!
This is a common problem with makers of artillery sets, and only recently, using K&C as an example with their Aussie WW2 25 Pounder, that a full crew without officer been offered.
By the way, TAW set BS107 which was the 4.7" field gun has 6 x gunners, with no officer!
My suggestion for future artillery sets will be to have at least 4 gunners serving the gun, and an add on set of another 2 or 4 gunner ( poses such as aiming, moving the gun, opening the breech or gun sergeant) so that collectors can have an accurate gun crew. The officer can also be a separate figure, along with general soldiers carrying ammo and such.
Anyway, if this is a start of a new company, and this is the standard, you are all on a winner !!!!
I hope to be able to see them in person when next I'm in London for the Toy Soldier Show, pity they weren't out in June
Regards,
John
