Hi All.
This is my first time here,because I'm thirsting after knowledge;
Can anyone tell me anything about a model soldier manufacturer (metal) called New Model Army?
I believe they were based in Wales (?), and maybe finished production about ten years ago(??)
Any info would be helpful.
Many Thanks.

Hi there - Go to Matte by manufacturer - and go to - "More manufacturers" - scroll down to "Retired Manufacturers" where you will find lots of posts under New Model Army - including some from when they ceased trading. I think you will find a lot of useful information there. Johnnybach

Welcome to the forum. Some dealers still have a few NMA items in stock. TF has a winter Sturmtiger listed in their store under the Consignment section, in Other manufacturers Vehicles. -- Al

Many Thanks, but i might be misleading everyone.
I think the full title of the firm I'm looking for is" The New Model Army(miniatures) limited".
They produced lead/metal soldiers of the english civil war period.
I don't thimk they had anything to do with vehicle kits, etc.
I've just managed to get my hands on 70 figures(very nice too!), and would just like to know more.......:)

Hi nmaman....Firstly welcome to our Forum if you want to learn all there is to know over toy soldiers and related subjects then you are at the right address!!.....Don"t know too much over NMA I"m afraid, I believe they were only around for a couple of years, and unfortunately went out buisness in 2007. a guy by the name of Blake Reade was the backbone of the company which in thier short existence made some really nice models...I am fortunate to have one of thier models a Sturmtiger. Blake is now the designer for Thomas Gunn who are now turning out some darn fine stuff...super quality at a fair price!!!!....Look them up i don"t think you will be dissapointed.

I think nmaman is talking about Oliver Cromwell's New Model Army around 1650 in the English civil war between the Parliamentarians (Roundheads) vs Royalists (Cavaliers). Sounds like something a small firm in England would make.

There were several firms in the UK that made figures for the ECW one that was still going ten year ago was called Ensign Miniatures. I will look in my guide to makers book from that period and will let you know what the contact info was etc. There were also a couple of other firms that made figures but I dont remember the names off the top of my head. So I will have to get back to you tomorrow. I also heard that White Tower may be getting into this era so you may want to check their website.

Are you confusing the small war-gaming figures (around 25mm scale) from a RANGE of Civil War figures (The range is ECW4 New Model Army) from a manufacturer/supplier called Essex Miniatures with Toy Soldiers?

Check them out online at www.essexminiatures.co.uk - and just read about them under "about us". jb
