What do you guys think of the new Artillery and gun crew set coming out this month? I can't wait I've order 2 sets plus the standing officer with scope and mounted artillery officer. I love artillery and almost would like three to make a nice artillery group. I hope Andy comes out withmore than one set for both sides!!

Cheers

I agree. I too am waiting with anticipation to receive my sets. I also agree that more than one per army would be greatly received.

How do other maker's artillery compare to K&C (like Frontline)? I think that they would be somewhat smaller and perhaps the difference would be notiable. However, I have used some Frontline, like the German 105mm gun, with my WWII K&C and have found that if I keep them seperated, the difference is not very apparent. However, with Napoleonic eara battles, everybody fought shoulder to shoulder. What other manufacturers make artillery pieces that could go with K&C

The new Napoleonic Horse Artillery figures are beautifully sculptured, but I don’t understand why the leather inseams on their trousers have been painted tan. These soldiers are wearing the full dress uniform complete with pelisse, the leather should be black. This is a little mistake, but one which shouldn’t have happened. All the reference material I have checked, Rousselot Uniform plates, Osprey books, and Historex painting instructions all say black leather. I would like to know what reference source K & C was using when they decided to use tan instead of black.

When I make my dioramas I like to think of them as a museum quality displays. Having a uniform painted the wrong color does take away from the accuracy of the display.

Maybe a special edition of the gun crew repainted with the correct black leather in seams would be in order. :)

Let me end by saying I know K & C is miles above any other toy soldier company in historical accuracy. Clearly their goal is clearly to make the best and most detailed soldiers possible. That’s why I buy so many soldiers and will continue to do so.

I agree that K and C makes their figures very accurate!! I'm happy K and C spends time researching their products as much as they take the time to sculpt and paint their figures!!!! This is why I also by K and C. :)

I found another forum called the "toy soldier forum", what a joke, there was people on there who where putting down K and C and I mean really putting them down, the nerve, sounded like jealousy to me but anyway....don't worry I set the group straight..... :D

My intention was not to put K & C down, but to point out what I think is a painting mistake.

K & C figures are the best, no question about it.

Sorry for the confusion I wasn't refering to you I was refering to the web site forum I commented on at the end...I know you are a true K & C collector.. :)

I just got my NA64 (French Artillery Set), NA65 (Artillery Officer with Sword and Telescope) and NA66 (Mounted French Artillery officer) and all three are little works of art. :)

I have been searching the web at a large number of sites (both dealers and manufacturers in the US and other countries) and I have found that Napoleonic artillery is not as common as say the American Civil War sets are. I have made a decision to purchase a couple each of Alymer's (made in Spain) French (#602) and British (#603) cannons. They do not come with men. And Goodrich Toy Soldiers only orders from Spain once everyother month. So the wait will be long. :(

I have used www.wmhocker.com/resource.htm to begin my search for sites. William has a comprehensive links page on his web site. I recommend it for at least comparing K&C with other brands, just to see how really good K&C is.

But, the K&C sets are so good that I will more than likely be getting at least one or two more of the NA64 sets.

I believe them to be very realistic, but I have never seen a Napoleonic artillery piece in person. I have seen hundreds of civil war napoleon artillery pieces, but they have very different carrages and hardware. But, they do look great and are very heavy, well worth the money.

Has anyone else got the artillery sets yet? I will be buying mine next week...oh did I mention I'm getting two....sweeeeeeeeet...oh and of course I will be getting the mounted artillery officer and officer with scope to compliment them :) :) :D

Just wondered if anyone else has gotten this Napoleonic artillery set and if so what type of box does it come in?

Wellington

It comes in a larger box than the limited edition dragoons and has the same colored appearance as the boxes that the dragoons come in. They are much more pleasing than the regular solid green boxes.

Thanks for your reply, I get my 2 sets tomorrow...looking forward to it!! Do you know the size of them off chance?

Cheers

:) Wellington, the box for the artillery set is about 2+ times larger than the boxes for the limited edition dragoons. They all (the four limited edition dragoons, the artillery set, the artillery officer, and the mounted artillery officer) have the napoleonic picture collage on them in shinie gloss red, blue and green. They are really attractive boxes. The artillery officer is in the small one piece size box and the mounted officer is in the same size box as the dragoons.

I know the feeling of anticipation. I am awaiting a couple of large orders of napoleonics. I am finishing off a square of 71st Light Infantry. It will have 62 men and two Del Prado Cannons. I also am putting together a column of 71st advancing to relieve them.

The square is being attacked by a double line of French Voltigeur and two flanking column of Grenadiers. They are being supported by 13 charging dragoons while off to the left, a small group of Highlanders are fighting off a dragoon patrol. I plan to add many more Old Guard going up against more Highlanders.

I heard that the new Napoleonics will include a Farm House. Can not wait. These Napoleonics have me completely and forever hooked on K&C. Michael

Thanks for responding, sorry for the confusion I meant the artillery pieces not the boxes, the second time around. Wow thats alot of 71st are you making all of your regiments that big? It would make me broke. I'm trying to put together approx 16 pieces per unit.

Cheers

I might put some pictures on soon
