Hi All

I was asked to begin a new poll on the collecting of vintage Britains figures. I have put together the following questions from suggestions posted previously in order to get a better idea of the collecting habits of our members.

All the best

Dave

Hi Dick

Sorry I dont type that fast and I was trying to word smith the poll a little better. Are these choices more along the lines of what you and Hugh are looking for?

Dear Dave, I collect the newer Britains over the vintage, because the scupts and details are better. Also , I hate old figures with no paint on them:D..Michael

I must be dense because I do not quite get some of these questions. If you only collect modern figures because you prefer the sculpts and painting is the only answer that you can provide: no to collecting vintage figures?

Under "If No then Why" question, the answers are "Too Expensive" or "Display Spae", you need one that says "No Interest". I like the sculpts, details and accuracy of the current type of matte-finish figures. Even when I was a kid I had no interest in the bright glossy "vintage" or "classic" toy soldier. Sorry, not my bag baby.

I would say no because doesn't have enough detail compare to todays detail. The only good thing about old figures especially old king and country goes for a lot of money.

Hi SV288,

Thats a very narrow minded point of view. If you collect because of the future worth of the items then I would say take a closer look at the Vintage sets from Britains they are getting prices that far exceede what retired K&C is getting. I dont collect toy soldiers for this reason and would imagine that most of the Britains Colectors here are like minded. Maybe this is the sort of question we should poll. Not...

I don't think you meant narrow minded, after all we all are entitled to collect what we like for whatever reason. Frankly I would agree that the newer sculpts are much more detailed and as a result more desireable to me. Does that make me narrow minded?;) If so, so be it.:)

Now fellers....

There is room for all of us. Some speculating is always going to happen I am now quilty of said offense:eek: I can not really afford old vintage stuff though they have a unique charm that I appreciate. I would really love to have Lucotte or Mignot but they are bloody expensive. Even the horrible ones.

My point is that it is all good. Enjoy one of the Worlds' great hobbies! Toy Soldier On!

How about some more photos of your handy work. I enjoyed the Krupp Truck

repair. Not that I want to see anything damaged........but your repair was

quite a nice piece of work.

amused to note that while 17 ayes for collecting vintage,21 ayes for vintage & modern,p'raps my mind is not in sync with this poll-it was fun though.o.

Thanks Njja! You will have to convince someone to send me something or sell me something that is broken and / or cheap. Usually all I have to do is straighten something then touch up. The truck was fun.:)

Come on someone out there contact KV, I'm sure there are quite a few items

that have taken a roll off the table!

It will be kept it strictest confidence! KV will do the repair carefully

concealing at all times the offending party!

We can observe the masterful repair and have a source to reattach that

motorcycle handlebar we accidentally snapped off while making sure it was

perfectly level!:D

Hmmm...I may know a character willing to donate a Wm. Britains Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Drum Horse whose forelegs were bizarrely snapped off in a Rube Goldbergesque accident recently. If I've the story rightly, not overmany tears were shed-as he(she or it) despises the foil Drum covers. This may not prove sufficiently tricky to intrigue K.V.(My Lord Kilwillie),but the offer is made for furtherance of the cause and edification of the fellowship.Best,o.

There's no doubt oldboy that the now known to be christen as Surgeon Geneal Kilwille will refuse the folwing generous offer................His Humble Aide de Camp....The Lt

You just never know what is going to happen. One day I thought it would

be a good idea to hook the WS33 flack gun to my Krupps truck......where was

KV then?

I'm glad we have a repair shop setting up just in case I get anymore brilliant
ideas!

I really can care less for old vintage sets in the W.B. and anything else.
