He seems to be moving to fantasy which is very popular. Can't blame him for expanding his product line.

I guess I'm ol school, the fantasy, monsters, never interested me at all, but we're all different.
The younger crowd like them. Not much military interest in younger people.

I agree.Indeed. Not sure that bodes well for this hobby.

Sci Fi/Fantasy wargaming is hugely popular with kids/young adults.
There is convention in Indianapolis called Gen Con, geared to that crowd, it draws 10,000 attendees.
As kids/young adults age, some "graduate" to historical gaming, others stay with sci fi/fantasy.
As I told another member today, Gen Con draws more attendees than every toy soldier show around the world.
Combined.
Probably fivefold; wargaming is a huge hobby, big in the US, bigger in the UK and Europe.
The UK is the birthplace of the toy soldier hobby with W. Britain being the longest standing company in the world, it was also the king of plastics with Airfix, Britain and Timpo, the US had one of the premier companies as well, Marx Toys.
I noticed “Kickstarter” in the URL?
Does anyone know if this line/series is crowd funded?
Beyond that, if it is crowd funded, has anyone seen FL raise money for products like this before?
Very well said; those are all spot-on observations.
I have found that games (computer, including hard-strategy/tactics games & others, and even board) trend toward Fantasy/Sci-Fi (what ever happened to a good old Axis & Allies game - or, even more classic, Risk?!).
I admit to playing those games when was younger with my friends as much as any wargame. My friends' kids seem to like fantasy even more. Whole worlds to create, and all. Of course, that is true of real History.
But I see Fantasy & Historical figures living side-by-side. Example:
You have the Riders of Rohan. You have Elvish Cavalry. You have armored Miniature Schnauzers riding Pegasi with magical bolts... Wouldn't you want the real Historical soldiers that inspired those Fantasies?
I agree with George - and and hope the percentage is as good as half saying Yes to TS/MF after they get their fill of Goblins.
Also, accuracy is not so much required in Fantasy. Coolness & art, yes - but not accuracy. Some people like things to be accurate.
Just my thoughts. Please add yours.

This could be the future for First legion historical figures
Thing about it. You pick a regiment and conflict. Crowd fund it and get the $ up front. Then produce it or pass on it if not funded. Example start with 3 figures and make the stretch goals more figures.
Better then taking a risk on a dud.
Some new products on the Facebook First Legion page, not something I'm interested in but glad to see new products being released!!

Been reading the threads on this and kickstarter, does not bode well for the finances of the company, you could think it was for this new market venture, but with the lack of releases in the last few months and the ever ongoing sale one has to feel the company might be a bit cash strapped and to design, manufacture and release new 'traditional' figures and vehicles would cost and does the company have those funds to do so!
The lack of new releases has nothing, repeat nothing to do with finances, more to do with factory/production/supply chain/COVID issues.
There are loads of new releases in the pipeline, but again, due to factory/production/supply chain/COVID issues, they are delayed.
Their goods go by sea to the West Coast, then from there to their warehouse, there are supply chain issues now and they've been ongoing for some time.
Anyone who has questions about a particular manufacturer is best served consulting with their toy soldier dealer of choice as we actually speak to the manufacturers either via phone or email and they inform us of issues and what they are up against in today's climate.
