I see on several site this Black Hawk Stagecoach. To be released
in February 2012. Might not be the true release date. Modeled in
association with Andrea. Painted in Hong Kong. Supposed to be
comparable with Del Prado. Andrea has a similiar one with Indians
in pursuit. Probably on the small size as usual with Andrea. I
think I'll get it as I've been wanting a stagecoach. I hesitate pre-
ordering as the dates never [well, almost never] coincide with
the date announced.

This is gorgeous. -- Al

This set is already offered on ebay from various sellers, so I do assume that it has been released and is available.
While it is a really beautiful set, I just think it should be a nightmare for safe shipping.
I am thinking about to get it, but if so, I will try to get it at the Indy Show end of March.

Thanks. Do you have to pay sales tax at shows? I've never been. I've really
never had any problem with safe shipping. Knock on wood.

As a Black Hawk dealer, I know their range pretty well. Without a doubt, this is the most impressive piece they have yet produced. The quality of the design and construction are excellent. The painting was compared earlier in this thread to Del Prado...I don't really see much resemblance there. The lines on the stagecoach are painted crisply and the shadowing and highting on the figures and horses (in my opinion) are a step above what Black Hawk has produced to date.

Regarding the shipping of such a fragile piece: it appears that Black Hawk have taken as much time designing the packaging as the model itself, perhaps anticipating potential dangers in shipping. I have just received a shipment of these coaches and thought I would share how the piece comes packaged.

It essentially comes in three stacked boxes: the outer box with a clear notice to keep "THIS SIDE UP." My boxes all came via Fed-Ex with the correct side up. What happened between departure and arrival, who knows, but at least they arrived that way.

Inside the first box is a second, the Black Hawk display box held snugly in place with foam sheets. Inside that box is yet another brown cardboad box. This third box has clear instructions to cut the box away from the model, rather than try to lift it out. I have included a photo of the cut box. Note that the model is securely strapped to a solid black base and through the bottom of the box. Additionally, the entire coach and horse assembly is packed with dense foam. I have removed it so you can see the strapping. Just a couple of pieces remain, but the entire assembly is packed with this stuff.

I have not opened every stagecoach that has arrived, as I would never be able to get all this packing back just right, but this piece shown arrived in perfect condition. The only warning I would make is be extremely careful removing the foam from between the horses and coach. They must be carefully negotiated between the horses and the reigns. The reins are extremely fragile strips of metal. It took me some time to remove all the foam safely, but was well worth the effort.

My final suggestion: do not let anyone send this to you via USPS. Mine arrived via Fed-Ex according to the shipping instructions, and I send mine out to customers the same way, via Fed Ex (with no shipping costs to the buyer).

Hope this is helpful.Stage01.jpgStage02.jpgStage03.jpgStage04.jpg

Hi Nicholas,
thank you very much for the info about this set and its packaging.
Looks like they did their best for a safe delivery.
It sure is an impressive display piece.

I visited various shows throughout the years, but sales tax was never a subject.

The Black Hawk Stagecoach I got arrived yesterday. All in good
order, via USPS I might add. Took a while to unpack. Heavy and
well done. I'm quite pleased to say the least.

Hi I have a number of the Andrea 54mm western kits that have been painted. I am concerned about the scale that even thought Black Hawk is made by Andrea. Do you think that say the Indains ft and mtd are the same scale for Black Hawk as the original Andrea metal kits? Same with the Stagecoach is this basically the same stagecoach that one could purchase in kit form? just a well painted version without indians? Thank you for your response. It looks like the horses are bigger? Looking for help.
