New Release: M113A With Full Interior!​

Well its that time again. Time to begin unwrapping Novembers huge release catalog.

TCS is pleased to add to our off the charts Vietnam series! This M113A Track is an incredible AFV. The " Welcome Wagon " as we like to call it has a full interior, fold down ramp, extra stowage, two figures and all kinds of great weathering. This little honey is priced just right and should be the centerpiece of any good " In Country Dio ". We've even added a cool " Welcome Wagon " call sign to the side. And we created a rider that can be used in multiples for all those riders you been looking for. And if all that wasn't enough we've added a special treat, a 1/30th scale PLAYBOY magazine August 67 I believe!

Long overdue! Hopefully TCS can also produce with different markings so a convoy or battle diorama with multiples will be possible.
If not we will get out the paints.
 
Due to the growing interest in Vietnam, as possibly jumpstarted by the Ken Burns, or just because people are interested in Vietnam again, I think this will be a popular release.
 
At last an armour release where my extensive experience and research ability is actually useful.:salute::

Obviously this release raises some important questions regarding the accessories.

After my research (thanks Hugh) I would have picked the March issue of 1967. However if Brian was trying to impress the Irish / Boston and / or sports fan market should have picked the September issue.

I note he says might be August.

PS. I would like to point out it was a bit later than 1967 when I saw my first cover.

Great model Brian, excellent detail. A nice piece of companion armor to go with it would be a M551 Sheridan. The 152mm Beehive Flechette round fired by the M551 put paid to several NVA regiments who were foolish enough to attack convoys equipped with the Sheridan's. The NVA troops were literally nailed to trees by the Flechettes! Very effective against wave attacks.
 
Perhaps if you do well with a Vietnam line, we could see some NVA armor.

Bad A$$ comes to mind!

Love the fact that it has an opening ramp with full interior. The little touches like the '67 Playboy sound really cool. After K&C's excellent Tarawa line-up, I'm a bit low, but I'm thinking about this...
 
From what I have read, the Sheridans were not the most dependable tank as their aluminum hull could be penetrated by RPGs and mines. In addition, their gun rounds were attached to a propellant and could become easily separated. When that happened the crew did not use the ammo and left it in the tank. If a RPG hit or the tank hit a mine, the hull could be breached igniting the ammo and destroying the tank.
 
Looks great and is long overdue but it needs an exhaust pipe on right front engine vent. Guess one could be added easily but it should be there. Customizing possibilities are outstanding with this unit. Always loved m113s ever since I sat in one as a kid.
 
The M551 Sheridan was deployed to Iraq during the first Gulf War with the 82 airborne division. Obviously the problems had been corrected as it was still in active inventory in 1990. The 152mm laser guided Shillelagh anti-tank missle had an effective range of 3000 meters, very effective against Iraqi armor. The combustible case ammunition presented a problem in Vietnam due to high humidity; which was corrected. The M551 was first deployed in 1970 and was very sophisticated armor for the period. The same 152mm gun/launcher was used in the M60A2.

The M113 was also subject to penetration by RPG's and mine damage was a major problem to the point crews rode atop the vehicle rather than inside. The M551 and M113 both had Aluminum armor ineffective against heavy weapons.

Thanks for the information on the Sheridan. It would be an interesting model.
