After checking out the warehouse remnants of our Old Guard issue some months ago we just knew we had to do some more poses. Naps have been one of TCS's fastest selling ranges. And there is no doubt that fellas have an insatiable appetite for our Old Guard. So for the Holidays we're releasing seven more poses that ought to have you reaching for your Marshall’s baton and embracing these great sets. Based on our first sets, these soon to be sought after poses, are some of our best.

Available for pre-order on our site and through your TCS friendly dealer. ^&grin

Cheers! Tally Hooo!

Brian,

there seems to be some real problems with the painting on these figures..... that's if you are trying to represent the 1st Regiment of the Grenadiers a Pied, of the Imperial Guard.

What I can see from the images that are incorrect are : (top to toe)

  1. Officers have gold chords on the bearskin not white
  2. Officers have gold epaulettes not red
  3. Officer with sword do not wear hussar boots with a gold tassels or red sash around waist
  4. Collar does not have red piping its all blue
  5. Lapels do not have red piping its all white
  6. Cuffs do not have white piping they are all red
  7. Cuff flaps do not have red piping they are all white

This is a pic of the uniform that I took at Les Invalides in Paris of an original uniform to show these items:

I do like the poses, and the rest of the painting, so to get it right, I think you need to send them back to the factory for some touch ups !!!

I am with John on this one. Clearly what you have here are Grenadiers de la Garde painted like infanterie de ligne.
The one thing I can see is that an officer might wear hussar boots- it is not uniform, but it could have happened.

I would agree with you guys as well, my avatar actually shows an officer of the Foot Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard:

Having just had a long conversation with our prototype painter in Europe I have gathered this information: His contention is that the uniform depicted correctly portrays an early middle guard tunic. His information, coming from the Musee de la Armee', is that during Waterloo many middle guard tunics were utilized as stocks of correctly faced tunics were unavailable. However I did point out that the leggings on breeches were not correct for the battle as well as the clear lack of overcoats. This was also explained away but a far too lengthy explanation to convey here.

The fact remains from a purist and text book point of view the point made by the above authors must be taken as correct no doubt. Out of respect for the expertise that is being offered here I thought it respectful to convey the information regarding the artists approach here as it is fair to him. One can only muse as to the actual uniform or lack of correct uniform that appeared at the battle.

Anyhow the reviews are noted with high regard as to their sources: I doff my Shako to you all!

Cheers!

Brian
