Most of my several 100 figures are gloss and marching, regardless of mfg. Having grown up with the Waterloo movie and wargaming, my whole concept of toy soldier collecting has been imagined columns of massed marching figures, advancing on my hardwood floors. Admittedly, my view will be slanted..I have started to collect the Britains F.I.W figures and have started to pick up some singles of marching and walking figures, with the idea of creating my own 4-6 man units of the same rgmt. Britains to date and with some future releases have officers and ranks of the same units available...Would others be interested in them finishing some of the previous released units as officers, drummers and other ranks. Example, the grenadiers with the peak caps are available as at standing still , static figures. Is Britains thinking of making them available as marchers, or since this unit is represented, there is no need for another pose? How about the flag bearers advancing? That is my dilemma in picking and choosing my marching poses and not knowing if I can finish the set off, without buying multiples of the same..currently available..I am talking gloss finish..I imagine some of you feel just as strongly for action poses. I guess that would be a diorama type versus traditional display type of collector discussion..Thanks for your thoughts and would appreciate what Ken might think about it..Michael

Good point. I would also like to know more so that I can plan ahead. Ken has already stated that more figures will be joining others in order to «build» regiments. And has admitted the possibility of making boxed sets with 3 or 4 figures. Now I would really like this to happen with action poses, in gloss, to complement the present gloss classic poses. I'd love to have an indian canoe, which is a classic with other manufacturers. I also wouldn't mind if these action poses were matte finish, although I'd prefer the gloss option which has been excellent so far.

Hi There!
You might notice that we have already added a marching officer for the 15th Regt of Foot. This figure would work just as well with the marching 44th Regt of Foot Grenadier.
Plan on seeing the other components needed to build a company of the 15th on the march. As mentioned elsewhere we really are trying to pace the releases so folks can build units at a reasonable pace.
As far as more action poses there will be some loading and firing figures added to the mix in Classic Gloss and a few interesting Matt finish figures for this period as well.
All the best,
Ken Osen

Yes, yes, action, I can hardly wait ( of course I can:D can I?:D ), this information has just made me leave some competition, well, behind:D. Just a matter of planning and priorities:). I'll be looking for FIW both in Matte and Gloss! Don't you forget about my canoe:D!

love the new redcoats range i like both marching & action poses myself but i lean more towards marching when building up a diorama of 1 regiment. Id love to see the grenadiers of the Coldstream Regiment of Foot Guards in marching pose to add to last years band & collectors club pieces.

Life is to short. Get 'em all while you can! That said I do love the massed look.
Firing lines the best.

I like your topic here Michael. I, too, love the look of the columns of marching units and I am amassing multiples of the same regiment with the Britains Classics (FIW/Redcoats/Bluecoats). I love that 15th regiment. I am thankful that Britains is adding to their previous releases in this line so that we collectors can have more of a "complete look". Flag bearers, musicians, mounted officers, etc--bring them on!!! What Craig said about requesting some marching grenadiers of the foot guards is right on. Oddly, they seem to have everything for the foot guards regiment except marching figures. I think Viriato echoes all our sentiments in that we wish we knew more so we could plan ahead.

I, like many of you, think they are not issuing enough of these Classic figures (enough as in more variety not quantity) nor are they releasing them fast enough. The wait for the new ones seems to take forever.

And the thought of a matte FIW line is stupendous!! I really can't wait for that!!! Maybe an Indian canoe set in matte??

I like both scenarios, too-parade and action, so it's nice if a line has enough individual poses in it, to be able to do both.

Also, the traditional toy soldier style certainly lends itself, or almost suggests, setting up a parade display.

Prost!
Brad
