The full dress for enlisted Marines consisted of a dark blue, double breasted frock coat, with two rows of Marine buttons. The high standing collar bore 2 loops of yellow worsted lace, with a small Marine button at the end of each. The collar was edged all around with scarlet trim. The two loop cuff flaps, and pockets in the rear skirts were also trimmed with scarlet. Brass epaulettes were fixed to each shoulder. Sky blue trousers were worn in cold weather, and white linen in summer.
Headgear was a dark blue cap patterned after the French Kepi.

That only four dealers have this begs the question of why these four and not others.

In addition, what is the intent with these Civil War figures. A couple of sets were issued around two years ago (if my recollection is correct) and then nothing since then.

Might be a very limited theme as the earlier figures were also USMC. No idea where he's taking this series, though. -- Al

It must be a limited theme because of the few releases issued. Perhaps those four dealers are the only showing interest in the Civil War as made by JJD or demonstrating any sales. It would be nice to get an idea about them, however.

it was my understanding that a group of dealers got together and selected a figure that John would make as their exclusive...

they paid John to produce these figures and they will be the only one that will have them for sale...

this is not an uncommon practice among dealers and manufacturers...

I'm a little surprised that they selected a series that John has not developed fully...

I would have thought perhaps a WWI or FIW figure would be more desirable to the general public...

but who knows...
as I'm not in the loop...
perhaps John told them he is expanding this series...

there was also this exclusive set for Troops of Time but it seems never issued.
I expected new sets of FIW American regiments but nothing for this month!!

Those are figures of Tim Tyler as a reenactor and you can buy them through Troops of Time.

Carlo...

I was hoping for something new myself...

but nothing...:(

maybe next month...

Me too! It seems like FIW is on the back burner. I like that Eindecker though so maybe it's a blessing. It would be great to see some French releases for Ticonderoga though.

At least FIW is on a back burner.... Seems like the Jacobite Rebellion and the Sudan Campaign can't even make it into the kitchen. :(

Great releases for WWI collectors but no FIW, Wars of the Roses, Napoleon in Spain and Jacobite Rebellion is disappointing.

We have three more 100th Anniversary years for WWI and then back to basics!??

Yes, I have to agree,

but seems like WW1 is big still, and John is a smaller maker, so he can't make figures for every part of his range every month (unfortunately)

John

My only question is why the plain square base and not the normal earth/grass base? Something new in the pipeline maybe?

Pete

These are great! Are any of the dealers attending the Hackensack show in November? I love JJD Marines. I would love to see more Marines of any time period. Anyone else???
