Good morning everyone and welcome to the latest new releases for September. As always hope you like them.

We have been working with John now for nearly 4 years now, and over this time we have seen the quality and variety constantly improve. This is really noticeable, because just when we think it cannot get much better, it always does. This month is no exception.

It is Plains of Abraham month to celebrate one of my favorite Canadian cities. For those of you that love collecting British figures, especially when creating a firing line will not be disappointed, this month we have a bumper crop.

This month his scenic release is especially outstanding. You could collect his scenic pieces alone and not be disappointed. The scenic items he makes are magnificent and can be used in so many scenes, and allow you to be a creative as you wish to be. John is planning many more scenic items for both this year and next.

If you have never visited John’s website, it is worth a look. One of the fun things on the site is his wacky caption contest, where he posts a very unique picture and asks for captions. The response he gets is outstanding and very creative. Some of you have way too much imagination. Some of you have way too much imagination. Check out his July competition, you got love a snowman..

BATTLE OF THE PLAINS OF ABRAHAM

September 2009 is the 250th Anniversary of The Battle of The Plains of Abraham, and of course the releases this month are all directly related to the event!

The Quebec city fortifications during the siege of 1759 were reasonably extensive.

From 1745 the landward side of the city was enclosed by extensive earthworks, and stone defences designed by Chief Engineer Chaussegros de Lery, part of which included the Saint-Louis Gate.

Montcalm the French commander was mortally wounded while trying to rally his broken army, many prints of the period show him held up in his saddle by his soldiers while he entered Quebec through the Saint-Louis Gate.

Also there is a little something special this month for the British! This extra set that is inspired by the Edward Penny painting “The Death Of Wolfe” depicts two British officers from the Louisbourg Grenadiers, which are based on the two figures in the background of the painting.

According to several sources the officer running, bringing news of victory, is Lieutenant Henry Browne.

Well Titus.........I feel your pain :( with this months beautiful releases.

I have about 10 sets of QB's but don't think I am going to start collecting it either.

The series is so big, with 30 something sets.

I guess I will take a month off and save some money.

I don't think so:D:D:D:D

Looks like sergeant/officer with halbeard and firing grenadiers for 28th are next to be released......

Chouette!! Having been to Quebec City several times, I have a keen appreciation for JJ's ever-expanding Plains of Abraham line. His St. Louis Gate is definitely on my purchase list, along with some of the newer figures. Any chance that we could have figures of the civilians, anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones at the gate? Such a heart-rending scene, as described by Parkman!

I see some great additions to my Braddock Diorama :D

A few months ago I started cherry picking a few of the POA figures and putting them with my BM guys - I like the look ! ;)

Lots of fun and most people don't even know the Regt. Colors anyway  - hehehe - hey its my collection and I am having fun !

These releases look great - so does that gate !

I originally bought 3 QB06's, 3 QB07's and 2 QB20's for fear I would not be able to collect any BM's......I cherry picked some too.

I don't collect POA, so I don't know what to do with them now.

OK, In the first part of Wolfe's Death (QB-02), the grenadier officer has the traditional grenadier style hat, but in the second set, both figures identified as grenadier officers, neither figure has a grenadier hat. Actually, I think the 2 officers from the second set are in entirely different regiments, and only 1, if that, may be a grenadier. Can anyone explain, especially the hat?

See if this answers your concerns: http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11632&highlight=browne&page=2

To clarify, I am asking are those in officers really grenadiers in the new QB-02B release?

Thanks

The Oficers and Ensigns look new sculptures to me, as does the drummer.
