Good Morning
Please find the very latest information on the new releases scheduled for September. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do, as always we will have on the web site later on today.

BATTLE ON SNOWSHOES
The Rangers who went on the winter scout patrols, not only had to worry about the French and Indians. The many extra perils facing a Ranger in the Adirondack Mountains were temperatures that often reached 40 degrees below zero, snow blindness, bleeding feet, hypothermia, and frostbite.
Things got only worse the more they neared the enemy positions, as fireless camps had to be endured. Therefore any opportunity to make a camp and build a small fire and have a warm drink would have been greatly appreciated.

Many Rangers were recruited from the New Hampshire frontier, and were highly skilled in surviving outdoors in various extremes of wilderness conditions. Bush Tents of Pine boughs were built around a central fireplace, and served the Rangers as shelters on winter scouts, and for the experienced Ranger were “but the work of half an hour at the most”.

BATTLE ON THE MONONGAHELA 1755
Robert Orme (1725 – 1790) joined the Coldstream Guards in 1745, and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1751.
He was aide-de-camp to General Braddock and was wounded at the Battle on the Monongahela.
He was to return to England and resigned from the army in 1756.
His portrait was painted by Sir Joshua Reynolds in 1756, and can now be seen at the National Gallery in London.

BATTLE OF THE PLAINS OF ABRAHAM
At the start of the encounter the French army had seven infantry battalions making up Montcalm’s hastily formed battle line. The outermost two of these regular battalions were two units formed from the “Compangnies Franches”.
This will be the first of many new French sets to be released over the next few months.

I hope you like the new releases, we hope to have them at the Chicago Show, but cannot guarantee. We hope to see you there anyway.

Best regards

The mounted figure is a real bargain at $58. Nice releases as always - and some much needed French figures. This seems about the right number of new releases for a month. Still no Braddock or Rogers. Maybe October!;)

These releases are excellent as usual. The mounted officer is a must have. Braddock must be coming soon. The French Marines are also a welcome addition to the POA series. The winter camp seen is nice but I’m not sure what I would do with it.

The Orme figure is ok.I've collected all the BOS sets so far but I want a battle diorama and the camp scene doesn't really fit in.The French set is another version of BM-01,BM-02,VM-02,QB-20,BM-08,BM-09,WIM-02,WIM-03,WIM-04,QHL-02,QHL-03,SWI-02,SWI-03.

I have been eagerly awaiting the camp set and brush tents so am thrilled that that they are at last here. My favorite moments to portray are the long periods of time between battles that detail the daily life of the soldier.

Thank you John for this great 2 part camp scene:)

Polarbear,

As the SRR-08 Bush Tent is unlimited John may also be able to do it in a none winter version, for other series.

Actually all you need to do is repaint the white snow supports at the bottom since the white birch and pine look the same all year round.

Great Releases !

I will have to think about a diorama for the Camp Scene - cant really have them in the Battle of Snoeshoes.

Maybe we will have a few other release that will come that can go with the camp scene.

Can you use the French Marine Firing figures in BM ?

Hi Ron

Yes these go with the earlier FM BM sets that John made.
I will also be posting some ideas for a Ranger winter camp soon so stay tuned.

Ideas for Winter Camps #1 Ranger Camp

John has been providing us in the previous sets issued for the Battle on Snowshoes with figures that may be used for winter camps during the French & Indian War. The upcoming September release of the brush tent and figure set of a Ranger and soldier from the 24th Regt. of Foot led me to review what we have so far that could be used for a camp scene. Today I am posting a camp devoted to the rangers. These are non-fighting figures that could be used with the ranger cooking over the fire in the upcoming set. Tomorrow I will do a setup for the men of the 24th. I'm just basically mixing and matching figures from the previous sets to make something new. I also tried to select figures that appeared to be interacting from their glances and facial expressions. Two rangers, one with a load of firewood and his musket toting companion have just returned to camp and are relating their experiences to their fellow rangers. Tomorrow stay tuned for the men of the 24th that may be used with the new 24th figure from the September release. Of course for the Battle on Snowshoes you can combine rangers and 24th foot since they were together for this patrol.

Supplementary scenics from BAR (barrels & wooden boxes) and hobby and craft stores (birch tree and snow) and back yard (rock).

Randy - Great !

My French and Indian Attack in my BM diorama was getting very INDIAN HEAVY  - need some Frenchies to balance it out :D

Looking back on my post last night on this thread I sounded very negitive but I do like this months sets.I already ordered the French,I will order Orme and the tent.I probably will order the camp figures as I want all the BOS sets.I am getting anxious as I want Braddock and especially that whaleboat.

Randy - Great !

My French and Indian Attack in my BM diorama was getting very INDIAN HEAVY  - need some Frenchies to balance it out :D[/QUOTE it was an Indian heavy battle. the french forces were 200-250 frenchmen plus 650-750 of their Indian allies against braddocks forces.

Like I said - I am looking forward to some more French Releases - it will look great with the other release that have been done.

now with the 2 shelters i can at last hold a 1/30 soccer display set - the Rangers versus the Indians. ;)

Note:

All my references in my post on the camp scene should refer to 27th foot not the 24th . There were no Zulus to fight in New York State in the 1750s:D

Ron,

John usually puts his emails out the 2 or 3 week of the month.

Last 3 have been 19 Aug, 18 July & 12 June.

So we do not get our fix for a least a week or 2.

Just got my QFM-001 today. As usual great figures.I think the paint jobs is what makes these figures,as they are beautifully painted.
