New Robert Rogers BOS Figure (1 Viewer)

Welcome to the forum Glenn...and yes...that's a good looking set.:D

I wish we could see the Frenchman's face.

I believe that is a indian.
Mark

I think your right...I see the leg covers and green skirting....but he looks like he has a French style jacket and hat on and his face is hidden...have you seen his face yet Mark?

I've been looking forward to the Rogers and Langy figures for a long, long time. John mentioned that they were difficult to produce because there are no known portraits of either men made during their lives. Hard to believe. Also recall reading there are no detailed descriptions of Rogers from anyone who knew him.

I can't tell the hat but doesn't he have one of those warclubs I've seen which seems unique to woodland indians.I believe that this figure signifies some kind of surprise because the way they have it so you can't see it clearly.I'm probably totally wrong.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

mike do you think r.rogers fig. will be the last of snowshoes series. i think he has covered it pretty good. it is a big series.

He still has to do the Langy figure yet....unless that hidden figure is Langy:confused: but I doubt it as he can get another set out of the series.
Mark

John may be happy to "almost" close the book on Snow Shoes at this point.

I would kind of expect a Langy figure also, it seems to be his trademark on all his series.....
but other than Durantaye (which I don't think he will do)....
and some chiefly Indians of no historical importance....
I can't see any other "must do's".

For my personal selfish and greedy needs....
I would like to see more sets of Rangers and Indians......
especially Indians....
I have always said that nobody currently does Indians as well as John does.

It seems like the Ranger releases are disproportional to the French/Indian release...
and I think his Snow Shoe Indians are terrific figures....
but I would like a few more Rangers.

It's such an unusual series with such unique attire...
I would find it hard to stop personally if I were John....but again...
I think he has grown bored with his current projects and would like some closure by releasing mandatory celebrity figures before moving on to another series.

Whatever happens....
I have really enjoyed collecting this series....
such an unusual battle...
so much lore to romanticize it (the mystique of the battle itself, Roger's Slide...the escape, etc...)........
the sheer weight of the figures (one figure I weighed came in at a hefty 7 ounces).

I hate to see it end.:(

Toy soldier lines are like horror movies - they never really have to end if they are still making money. I think BOS will continue in some form for a while longer. Langy is certainly still in the mix. John seemed to be focused on him even a year ago as a central figure in the line. Would expect some other BOS personalities as part of the collector's club. :)

It's the most beautifully painted of all the series.

HI MIKE. COMBAT. MARCO55. A few more figs. would be nice. Mike regarding raid on st. francis it would be nice having more rangers in attaking in st.francis or in skirmishes when they left and some french courers de bois and indians if JOHN wants he can make it very interesting. Collecting his series is like a drug all you want is more and more. keep it UP J.JENKINS.

Aurele....I don't think John has even really "begun" making Ranger's figures for St. Francis.....I mean....I think he needs to introduce several sets of Rangers attacking, burning and looting food.....and more Indians for the village.

The whaleboats were used in the trip there....but were left stowed away and a long march followed to the Abenaki village....so they won't really work in an attack.

I'm not sure how many French you will see for it....I think they became more involved in the chase on Roger's escape and return.

I would expect to see many more sets of village Indians and Rangers though.

Who knows for sure....but in my opinion....the set has hardly begun.

ps....................your box is packed and I will be at the post office early in the morning.

According to John for BOS:

There will be Langy--the next release I believe

There will very likely be Ranger and French officers--one of which could be used for Duarantaye.

There may be a French supply sled

I would like to see: (possibly as Club figures)

1. Rogers in a non combat pose (with his jacket still on)--meeting with Rangers at the camp
2. The 2 Abenaki scouts who discover the Rangers' tracks that leads to Durantaye and Langy being sent out from Carillon
3. A scene with figures at Fort Edward (William Haviland of the 27th for example) planning the mission--could use a Rogers figure here
4. Andrew Ross on assignment to the patrol from the Black Watch--would love to see John do a winter highlander
5. Capt. d'Hebecourt of La Reine Regt. who sends out the attacking forces from Ft. Carillon

I agree I think we will see more BOS figures. Im also hoping for more Ranger sets. Im finally up to date with the BOS line all there will be is the new Rogers set to get which is already preordered. I really do love the BOS series.

POLAR BEAR. If we can get sets like that it would really be great and interesting would make a lot of us happy. cheers.
