New Set-IWH004 Grenadier and Indian (1 Viewer)

I saw it and will probably buy it.As I stated on another thread I saw 2 new sets from Frontline in Toy Soldier and Model figure magazine. These aren't advertised from any dealer yet and not on Frontline's website but I haven't seen the Grenadier/Indian set there yet either.

Hi Marco,
I wonder if this set will go with Jenkins 44th Grenadiers.

I don't know Benjamin.I guess we will have to look at the facing colors on the figures.

The sleeves of Jenkin's Grenadiers are yellow where the Frontline one appears to be orange.

The Frontline Grenadiers are the 35th Regiment of Foot latterly the Royal Sussex. After their engagement with the Royal Roussillon they were nicknamed the Orange Lillies.

The folowing is an extract from a website dedicated to the regiment which I hope you find interesting, additionally, there is a thread on the TF Frontline forum which adds some more detail........

The County Regiment has served with great distinction on many occasions, probably the most celebrated of which was the battle of Quebec, where, on 13th September 1759, the Regiment took part in the action on the Heights of Abraham, defeating the French Royal Roussillon Regiment. “In recognition of the Regiment’s fine discipline in that battle authority was given for it to wear the white plume of the Royal Roussillon Regiment. The 35th also took from this regiment their colours, which bore the French lilies of gold, and from this originated the nickname “The Orange Lilies”. The white plume the 35th bore on their hats for forty years afterwards”[1], and was eventually to be commemorated in the badge worn by the Regiment until 1966. Thus the Regiment played its part in General Wolfe’s great victory, and at the same time, were present at the death of the French Marquis de Montcalm, avenging the earlier massacre of the 35th at Fort William Henry, by the North American Indians, allies of the French who had been commanded by Montcalm, the story of which was immortalised in ‘The Last of the Mohicans’.

The Brigadier is a good looking figure,

and I like the pose of the Indian,

and the price is great,

but at 1/32, they might be smallish with John's.

It says it was released in July 2009........does anybody have any closeups they can show please........especially comparisons together?

Mike.
I had the Montcalm set and it stacks up pretty good with Jenkins but I think Jenkins figures a bit bulkier.Randy has some pictures of the Montcalm set with Jenkins figures.Frontline started making their figures bigger a couple of years ago so that new set should fit in.I saw pictures in TS&MF magazine of a couple of new sets by Frontline and they must be 35th Foot as they have the orange cuffs.

I think they will be fine together.........bu like you said John's are a little bulkier.

These are IWC's with Jenkins........definitely close enough.

John's are just a little "heartier" in girth, but the height is close enough.

Randy's shot was a good illustration.

I will probably get this set plus the new ones I saw in the magazine.I don't collect Quebec series usually but the 35th Foot and the Royal Rouissillion regiments were both at Ft. William Henry. The only thing that bothers me is the darn hats for the French forces as I have always thought of the traditional tricorne as the hat of the FIW.It's the one reason I haven't bought the marines of Frontline.I have the book by Osprey, Empires Collide and it shows both types but I'm still not sure the marines wore them.I wish they would make some sets with the figures wearing the bonnet or toque.
