Hi Guys

Being overseas - the nearest toy soldier shop is 1000's of miles away - I have not been able to see the new First Legion in person. The pics look amazing though.

As a number of you collect KC aswell (like myself); can I have your thoughts on a comparison. The British Guards look amazing and so many poses -which is a challenge with KC if you want a square. However, I think KC cavalry are fantastic.

Be interested in your thoughts and whether they could be mixed and matched?

Cheers

The short answer to your question is that it depends. I am growing my Napoleonic collection largely as 1st Legion comes out with new releases but I do have some K&C Cuirassiers, King's Legion, British Guards and a Dragoon. I have done a bunch of mixing and matching and come to the following conclusions. The K&C mounted figures look fine and can be readily matched with 1st Legion foot and mounted figures. The same is true for the Collectors Showcase Cuirassiers. The K&C Guard figures are a few mm taller but look OK with the 1st Legion ones. The King's Legion figures are a bit more stout and can be matched but don't look as good intermixed, as in a line or hand to hand combat but OK if separated. The Britain Napoleonic foot figures look better in line with the 1st Legion foot figures and the CS figures, which are even more chunky than K&C do not look as good intermixed. The detail of the 1st Legion figures is sharper and the painting more subtle and overall the impression is more like connoisseur style than toy soldier style but I don't think that creates much of an issue for intermixing them. The following are some links to scale comparisons for further information.

I must say if you like Napoleonics, you should indeed collect these, they are hard to beat.

Thanks for taking the trouble to post and also adding the links - they made for interesting reading. The KGL and French pics were a great comparison.

I think I need to see the First Legion in person - some how.

I only started 6m ago and have bought a great deal of KC; I may limit my KC purchases because as you say, if I like Napoleonics I gotta collect these !!!

Cheers again

Glad it was helpful Gazza. Here is another Dio thread featuring scenes mixing 1st Legion French attacking K&C Russians that may be helpful

I also hope to post a scene or two with the new British Guards and K&C and CS French Cavalry soon.

I agree that seeing them in person is the best. I am not near any shows so I just bought one to compare. I would suggest a French or British infantry for a good comparison. I am sure you will not be disappointed. They are like TinBay figures, only cheaper and better.

Hi everyone new to the forum but not to collecting from the Uk .I'm receiving my first first legion tommorow to compare, i must admit they look good,i'm not sure how successful they will be? K&C are very well establised and i've noticed collectors showcase figures are still readily available even with their limited numbers,we will see.I think if they brought the price down a little say £20 a figure instead of £28 ($35) roughly they would be a great success, if i could get 5 for £100 instead of 3,personally it would make a big difference to my buying potential as i'd swap supplier.Especially in the current climate
In the long run can they compete with such a well establised company like K&C if they cant beat them in the price?
