ONTC have just released 3 new WW1 sets depicting the brutal combat of the 1918 American arrival on the fields of France. This is a very limited edition run of only 100 sets each.

I say that those are great looking sets with some hesitation as they really really show the desperation of the hour. Certainly from an artistic standpoint, these are great sets but there is always something about fixed bayonets that just chills my spine. I remember whenever we trained with "live sticks", I would always get this cold wave of sweat pass over me- just something about the closeness and the absolute desperation that a bayonet really represents. I was actually pretty good at using one on the obstacle courses- I think it was the adrenaline that rushed through me of the fear of having that thing hanging off the end of my barrell- just sort of fueled my performance I guess- sort of fight or flight thing.

Hats off for another great release guys!!

Hi Chris

Good to see you here. I have to admit that the use of the bayonet was never one of my favorite training days either. I figure if I have to get that close to an opponent my tank is disabled or I really ****** up.

Looking forward to seeing more from this line.

Thanks for the great comments - we have a really cool 4 piece set in production right now. I will post images as soon as available.

IMO ONWTC is doing the finest mid to late war figures in WW1 on the market. They have a realistic, battle worn look that is perfect for WW1. The dio pieces are great and the armor is really superior work. I currently have the A7V and the French Renault plus several figure sets and they are all great. I would like to see more French troops, in particular the famous 75mm gun or some other artillery. Keep it up. -- lancer

Has anyone received the new Hand to Hand sets. I got mine the other day and I'm usually very impressed with ONTC...I have to say that quality control is lacking on sets TGW-011 and TGW-012. TGW-011 has rough casting on helmets and the rifle the german holds is exteremly thin and poor quality painting through out the piece. TGW-012 was lacking a steady hand when it was painted...Another piece I purchased this year was set with a Tank and it was GREAT!!! The soldiers qaulity was lacking..I chalked it up to the "not everything is going to be a homerun"...After seeing 2 of the 3 Hand to Hand sets come in a similar quality control issue...I must say that ONTC will no longer be added to my collection going forward...

This surprises me. I have not yet gotten the new sets so I can't comment. The sets I do have exhibit no such problems. Can ONWTC answer to this? I will hold off buying the new sets until I can see them in person. -- lancer

You know I felt the same way. The painting was not very good at all. I too was disappointed in the quality. I will give ONTC the benefit of the doubt on these because I really like what they do in WW1. Hopefully they read this and this is a one time glitch.

Hey Guys,
Thank you for the heads up on the new WW1 sets. We have opened the remaining stock and have found 5 very badly painted sets and 3 with obvious casting problems. We have notified our factory to insure these problems do not happen again. We apologize to anyone who has received a defective product and would like to make this right. Please return any defective set to us and we will replace at no charge - Dave will personally inspect the paint quality and make any corrections and will even hand paint any details that are needed to insure a great product. We try and offer the best products we can, but defective products sometimes slip thru the cracks - rest assured that we will always stand behind our sets and make sure that you are satisfied.

Excellent! Thank you for the quick answer and prompt action. The sets will go back on my "get" list. -- lancer

I'lll be certain to pick up a set then. Any chance we'll see some USMC WWI figures in the future?

Looking forward to it. Just a quick observation if you are planning to do WWI Marines: your previous doughboy figures have been armed with M1917 "Enfields" (not surprisingly as there were twice as many M1917s in France as there were M1913s). The Marines, however were not issued the M1917, but exclusively used the M1903 Springfield. Just trying to help.

I have seen these in person at a show , They are very nice and the poses are a very good representation of WWI close combat . I would recommend them to any collector interested in the period . Really nicely done ;) Gebhard
