Apparently a family found some old WW2 combat films that were shot by their grandfather while in the US Army in Europe. Here's a link;

The above tells the story of finding the films and there is a second link to "raw footage" which is fantastic stuff. One can see scenes from Omaha Beach (I'm guessing because of the bluff) after the invasion with ships unloading at the Mulberry. There are shots of the US Army moving through Normandy in the St. Lo area, of ground life at a forward airfield, and a whole bunch of pre-DDay gun camera footage, labeled with pi.ot and unit information. I know the 354th Fighter group was flying P51Bs for the April, 1944 footage.

Anyway, as you watch the films look at the faces and remember these young men who gave so much for all of us. It's especially appropriate here on Veteran's Day in the US.

Gary, great stuff!
You know there has got to be more of that sort of stuff out there just waiting to be found.

Thanks, Gary, for the link!

And to other Gary, that is a good point, about how much information is still out there, that hasn't been brought out. You remind me that I want to make this point--if you know someone who served in WWII, please record the stories, somehow. I don't mean to press someone who is reticent, of course, and handle it with all taste, decorum and good will. But these men and women are passing now, and what they know will die with them.

We have the capability of recording this for ourselves and future generations, something that wasn't broadly available to people in the past, and it's a shame to let the opportunity pass.

Thank you. I enjoyed watching the video very much. It is good to see something without the voice over. Special stuff.

Thank you, for posting the video. One has to wonder what other films are out there waiting to be discovered not only film from WWII, but from all other conflicts when film was available.

Hopefully, it will all be saved for future generations, so we all can all remember the sacrifices that were made for our freedom.
