I am looking for the set of plastic WWII army soldiers I had in 1960. As the 60s progressed we bought a lot of sets but they were "cheap" not like the good old ones we had before. I can still remember some of the poses. I remember each army(US,brit, german, jap) was different color and were different(uniforms, weapons,...). we had an ammo box, sandbagged machine gun nest, and some barbed wire(plastic).

I dont know if they were glossy or matte. I would think matte. they were 1/32 scale I guess. I remember a mortar and a 2 man bazooka team.

If you have any idea of what I am talking about, is this available?

In all probability you are referring to the various Marx Battleground sets that were issued in this time period. These sets were quite varied but they did have unpainted US soldiers in many greens and tans. Germans were in gray. Many different accessories came in the sets that included barbed wire, bunkers, sandbags, tanks, artillery, etc. Original sets can be found with the more complete sets in original boxes getting quite pricey. Bits and pieces can be found on e-bay. Good luck. -- Al

Yes those look close. The bunkers, bridge, fences,... the soldiers dont seem as I remember them. Is it possible that another company made these before Marx took over? I remember the old "good" soldiers were real thick and the newer sets we had were skinnier.

The older Marx sets had "thicker", 60mm soldiers if that is what you are referring too.
Ideal & Auburn also did bigger figures but only Americans.
If I,m not misteken the only companies that did Germans & Japs were Marx, MPC & Lido, with Lido rather hard to find.

Even as a kid, I didn't like MPC. I had Germans, Japanese and Russian soldiers. Marx was great. Auburn, I really liked those alot, especially the ones wearing the caps. I may be interested in buying these, if anyone has them.
