Looking for a larger one myself, hopefully with a larger collection room with a home ,I usually watch Barrett- jack. with the sound off, recorded, unless a Cobra Daytona replica comes across and I leap to my failing phone bid.
I have always loved cars, I had a 1961 Corvette in High School, then a 1969
Chevelle SS 396/375. Probably 10 more Corvette's 1970-2000 then I had a
really bad one that had to have a new short block installed which ruined its
value. I also built a 1971 Cuda (glad I got that out of my system) it looks like
fun when you read about it.......its really a lot of work! I got the car from a
Delta pilot that had lost his job. He had the original 383 motor (out of the car)
and had a $5000 paint job done to the vehicle. I had the motor rebuilt and
balanced, while I installed a new interior dash, seats, headliner, carpet. I
rewired all the original dash equiptment, radio speakers, gauges then we
dropped the engine in and tuned it up. A rebuilt motor is bored out so you
have to find new timing marks and set the advance. It ran great but it was
a 1971 noisy, bumpy rough ride. It sat in my garage used only on occasion
as my daughter and wife had little interest in going for a spin in the old
"Mix master" When I decided to sell it I got lots of calls usually offering 1/4
of the investment! I finally found a nice fireman who always wanted a Cuda
and was really excited to finally get such a nice car!
The SSR was perfect for me since it offers the power of the old classics
along with the modern features and comfort the rest of the family likes. Its
also nice to spend most of my time in the vehicle instead of under it!
Next one will be a 2006 Final Production Run 6 Speed......I would love to
pick up a 1967 Vette 427/435 (my college roomates Dad had one) but I think
I will be content to look and not touch!
