On 11/7/09 America's newest warship will be comissioned.It is the U.S.S. New York.It is the fifth of a new class of amphibious assault ships.It carries 360 naval personal and 700 marines.It's motto is "Strength forged though saciface.Never forget".What makes this ship so special is that the bow stem includes 7 1/2 tons of steel recovered from the twin towers.This steel was melted down in a foundry in Amite,La..When it was poured into the molds the steelworkers treated it with total reverence.1200 steelworkers stayed after Katrina hit the shipyard to keep building the ship.The offical website for the ship is www.ussny.org for anybody interested.
