A poll. Who do think would make the best Bond from current favourites below ?

Extracted and edited from Daily Express :

Tom Hardy (Fury Road and the Legend) has shot ahead of long time favourite Idris Elba (The Wire and new Netflix movie Nation of the Beasts) with new odds of 3/1 to play the role.

Idris Elba has already seen another colleague become the first black actor to play James Bond, after David Oyelowo (Selma) snatched the role in the audio book version of author Anthony Horowitz's latest OO7 adventure, Trigger Mortis.

After being the favourite to replace Daniel Craig as the iconic agent on Her Majesty's secret service, Elba has slipped to third place.

William Hill now gives him odds of 4/1.

Redhead Damian Lewis (Band of Brothers and Homeland) remains the red-hot favourite with current odds of 5/2.

Oyelowo has also been catapulted into fourth place at 5/1, alongside actor Henry Cavill *Superman and Man from UNCLE).

Craig, of course, has yet to reveal whether he will step down any time soon and is still committed to making one further film after the upcoming SPECTRE.

James Bond just has to be a traditional MI5 British agent as Ian Flemming wrote it , a black actor is just not going to work, why change it just to be PC.....^&confuse Damian Lewis for me.
Wayne.

Lewis might pull it off.

What I like about Craig's Bond, is that he's a return to the menacing Bond. I think Connery portrayed that, and Timothy Dalton, too. That is, Bond isn't just a dapper fellow who knows his vodka and has impeccable taste in clothes. He's a killer. Roger Moore's Bond didn't show that, in my opinion, and Brosnan's Bond wasn't quite that menacing, either. That isn't entirely their faults as actors, though, but the Moore Bond films definitely played up humor, and it's tough to be funny and menacing at the same time.

Prost!

What about Michael Fassbender? I'm surprised he'd didn't make the poll! I loved his charecter in Inglorious Bastards!

From The Daily Mail

"It looks as if it’s all but official: heart-throb actor Tom Hiddleston to become the next James Bond.
Bookmakers Coral yesterday suspended all betting on the Bond succession after strong support for The Night Manager star made him a 1-2 odds-on favourite to win the role.
Punters are believed to have reacted to news that the Hiddleston, 35, enjoyed a meeting with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli and Sam Mendes, director of Skyfall and Spectre, last week".

Had only seen him as Loki before but thought he was good in The Night Manager. TNM seems to have been a hit in UK and probably reason why now might get Bond. Still prefer Hardy but he probably has enough movie offers that does not need to do it (if even offered the role).

I like Hiddleston. He should be good, although he has a default 'go to smile' much like Tom Cruise.

Daisy Ridley (Star Wars, Rey) being James daughter, Jayne Bond. You could have a lot of fun with a character like that in a Bond film. ^&grin, Robin.

My vote is for Brett ^&grin

Now, if they won't choose Brett, I think Tom Hardy would be excellent.

I sya Sam Worthington or Michael Fassbender? Hiddleston appears a bit frail for the rigors of the bond life IMHO.

Caitlyn Jenner or else you lose funding. And has the stature.

All,

...and another one:

Rhona Mitra as Jane Bond perhaps?

Agree, Hiddleston does seem a bit frail.

Classy suggestion from Jazzeum (either of them^&grin) but not so much from BLReed^&confuse.

I must have missed something but when did OO7 have a daughter? Well at least one he was aware of..................^&confuse

Do you not think after all his conquests at least something is not going to come back and bite him^&grin. I think a female in role for a change would great. Robin.

I did see an article suggest Emily Blunt for Bond role (she was the agent in Sicario).

However my opinion is Bond is a male role and should not be changed. Bond is too iconic to me to be changed.

Nothing to stop a studio creating a female special agent role (ie. like Angelina Jolie in Wanted) but good luck getting a female lead that could carry such a major series. One of the best action female roles recently was Charlize Theron in Mad Max.

Although I like Emily Blunt, if they were to make Bond female -- what would she be called: Jaime, Jacqueline? -- I don't see her as Bond.
