Another great scene…I may have to break down and get one of those Hueys
Cheers Mike :salute::
Yes, well since this is a re-release I would of thought that would be it. I have two of the Hueys, Slick and Dust off and it's true they do have issues, but not much else around unless your pockets are deeper !
3D prints of Huey's aren't really suitable for the Huey at present, nor I think for the H34 Sea Horse as too much weight among other issues on the skids/Wheel struts etc.
I've asked Paul to Print me an OH-6A LOH, which may have same issue, but I'm willing to give it a go with my cash. Alas not possible to have clear canopy due to way they're designed to be printed, but once I have it I'll be able to see whether I can try a bit of conversion with a craft knife and some superglue, perhaps if not it can always be used as a crashed chopper !
Also have asked him to do a LVTP-5 for me, this I know will require sanding and some cutting as well as the usual painting, then I'll have to try and sorce some decals, which I've already looked into and isn't as easy as you might expect, but hopefully figures and stowage will cover most obvious defects.
Should be quite a beast as far as size is concerned, but with not being done by maker at present at least it gives me the opportunity to have one that isn't a 1.35 scale kit. And also if one were made, with them being so large would almost certainly be out of my price range even if one were made. Unless I will the lottery !
Last week I asked Paul to print me off a small Sampan, which has literally has just come through the letter box now. Looks great and I'll probably buy a couple more off him. I do have one of the Streets of Hong Kong K&C Sampans and this is much narrower and what I wanted. I'm sure someone familiar with the correct terms will be able to correct me on the nomenclature. So will clean that up and paint it and put it in a dio soon enough !
I read in the TCS thread that they may be releasing a Cobra Gunship. Assuming they keep it to the same scale as the Huey, I may very well be interested, but with TCS their scale for Vietnam items are all over the place, so I'd want to weigh things up before I committed to one of those !
