Nick Versteeg, founder of Toy Soldiers of San Francisco, passed away this weekend.

Very sad news…I was lucky to spend some time with Nick at the recent WestCoaster Show and always looked forward to meeting up with him and his wife Deanna at Chicago or Texas or LA Shows.
A great guy and an important ‘player’ in the toy soldier world!

Rest In Peace my friend,
Andy and all at K&C.

I first met Nick and Deeana in the early Nineties. They had just started the company and David Lee (sp?) was sculpting figures for them. We were founding members of the old San Diego Toy Soldier Society and we put on a few shows together at the local Masonic hall. Unfortunately, he was plagued with health issues frequently in the ensuing years. We always had a good time over the years and the shows won't quite be the same without him. He always had a smile and cheery outlook throughout the years . . . one was one of the bravest people I ever knew. I'll miss you, Nick! Hang in there, Deeana, our thoughts are with you.

I loved what Nick did for plastic figures. He produced some of the best plastic sets ever made. He made a real mark on our hobby.

Just a couple of days ago I was wondering how he was going.
