Night of the Hunter (1 Viewer)

I tried to watch this 1957 Robert Mitchum movie which also starred Shelley Winters. It was supposed to be a very dark movie, with Mitchum acting as a human predator. Surprisingly, I found it unwatchable. Perhaps it was the unexpectedly dark portrayal by Mithcum (kudos to him then) or the strange dissipation of acting among Winters, the children and the other cast members, I found my interest waning and turned it off about halfway.

This movie scared the hell out of me as a kid.I can still watch it.What makes this scary now that I didn't know then that it is based on a true story.
