ooooooooooh my my!

I'm a big fan of Bob Odenkirk too...
love Better Call Saul...

loved the trailer...
reminded me of John Wick...

gotta see this one...

need to edit this post...
watched the trailer again and saw it's the same director as John Wick...
he has a type apparently...

Just noted this thread after I started one a few days ago.

Had not realised same Director but when watching it Wick is one you do compare it to. Must say I am not familiar with Odenkirk having not finished Breaking Bad (got sidetracked) so he was more of a Nobody to me.

My only comment would be that I would have liked to see a bit more reaction from his family when they discovered his "hidden talents". Up until that point his teenage son had not been too impressed with his Dad who he thought had wimped out during a home invasion.

He is an ex Army "auditor" much like Ben Affleck was an Accountant.

SPOILER ALERT...........

agree with your comment about the son...
he seemed duly unimpressed with Dad when they got robbed...
you would think he redeemed himself somewhat in his son's eyes...when he let them out of the safe room...
maybe just a quick comment..."Holy Smoke Dad!"...

if you like Odenkirk...who I'm a fan of...you must watch the Better Call Saul series...

not sure if he was Army...he described himself as an auditor for one of the "three letter agencies"...
DOJ...ATF...FBI...CIA...etc...
in the tattoo shop...his wrist tattoo...2 cards...that mean anything to you?
I'm not familiar with that...

thoroughly enjoyed it...
first thing I thought was...
are they John Wick's dad and grandfather?

Spoiler Alert in reply to Mike's Spolier Alert.

The Vietnam Veteran in the tattoo shop obviously recognised the cards. No idea if the cards mean anything in real life but in context of movie I took it to mean an Army Special Forces unit and his three letter agency would then have to be CIA who are the more likely to utilise such "talents".

Will have get back to Breaking Bad and then Better Call Saul. However currently into The Borgias. Oh wait, I like legal type series and I could go back and rewatch Suits now that I am such a Megan fan - NOT ! {sm4}

I finally had a chance to watch this one on HBO. It's an entertaining action flick. If you like Odenkirk, it's all the better. Some of his typical humor. Not exactly a great movie, though, unless you can suspend disbelief to accept that one unarmed guy can take on teams of trained assassins with automatic weapons etc. The Russians really get a bad rap in these action movies. Always being portrayed as the bad guys. I guess that is an acceptable Hollywood stereotype. And Hollywood is afraid of offending China. So the bad guys have to be Russians.

Mike-
That's a great article. I think Hollywood wokeness and China's influence prevents them from using any other ethnic group as the bad guys. That would be deemed unacceptable (i.e. racist or stereotypical). The Russians have filled that role almost by default. The influence of China in American politics and culture is frightening. Hollywood, politicians, and professional athletes are terrified to even hint at any criticism of China. You will never see another movie with anyone from China as the bad guy.

I just saw this film recently. I thought it was great. Kind of reminded me of Charles Bronson in "Death Wish".

when I first saw it...it reminded me of the John Wick trilogy...
on further examination...I found out it was the same director...
basically a spin off with a different hero...
the Russians were still the antagonists...lol..
