Norse Figures (1 Viewer)

Abenaki...

these are way cool...

not exactly what I thought a guy from New York...with a moniker of Abenaki would be collecting...

was thinking some North American Indians at first...

but...

very cool...

I love the Norsemen...

. Mike, how's that? I also have the JJ figure of you as a Viking. He's the leader of the raiding party.

I believe the figure third from the right is a saxon and thats where i will place him defending against my vikings. I've acquired quite a few more vikings from russians makers lately. Wont be doing a diorama for this period for a while although i have started it . Got three more dioramas to display before i get to the vikings.

Love your forum name, and by some of your photos you have an interest in periods of history the same as myself.I really like the russian vikings but you don't know what the quality is like until you have received it. Fortunately my purchases have been good but some of my greek buys have been slightly down on quality. Recently purchased viking chieftan sitting on throne which i will put on my forum page this weekend. Also purchased saxon figure with severed heads on stakes. This one is unpainted and iwill have to paint. As you would have seen ,unpainted figures are cheap, fortunately i have a reaonable painting painting skill and they turn out ok. As i have said before, i will not be doing viking diorama until other projects are finalised. Nice to see another viking collector on the forum.Regards Greg.

Unfortunately alot of the castings from Russia are cheap knockoffs of legitimate manufacturers like Pegaso,Andrea,Romero and others.

I was not aware of that. Thanks for the heads up Mark.

Not all Abenaki but you will see the unpainted castings at $9.99 and such. From China too.The bad thing is the original manufacturers charge $30-$40 for a kit nowadays so many people will buy the cheaper ones.I don't know about the painted ones from well known Russian companies as they may buy them from the manufacturers.

I am ordering several Vikings from a reliable Russian seller on Ebay. I just received a figure from him and it was made by EK Castings in the Russian Federation. The sculpt is excellent, well proportioned and well detailed. No flash or part lines and the figure is 62 mm high including the helmet. Fuly assembled for $8.00 + shipping. Took 10 days to arrive international priority mail with tracking. Planet figures forum has information and reviews on EK Castings with a link to their website. Lots of photos.

There are alot of quality russian figures around.

I think EK castings are there own entity. I have some and they are incredible!

Many of these 8 dollar castings are indeed recasts of commercial figures- (AKA knockoffs or counterfeit) with minor changes like a flag for a sword or different base.
I feel terrible when I see these on ebay-
