This 1/32 scale toy soldier tabletop battleground provides a lot of unwinding and relaxation as I place the mostly die cast metal vehicles and figures in various scenes to create the art of the battlefield. Did you enjoy playing with early Marx army men as a kid? This takes that play to a higher level in the form of collecting and placing much more detailed and more-to-scale vehicles on the tabletop mat.

I've slowly been replacing all my plastic figures and vehicles with die cast metal in an "upgrading fashion". From reissued molded-in-color Marx sets and artillery to Ultimate Soldier plastic vehicles, many of the newer items are now metal Forces of Valor vehicles and Oryon figures, thus the limited number of soldiers in the scene. Hope you enjoy and share your thoughts on adult tabletop play/collecting.

WO,

I had quite alot of Marx TS's as a kid...Swoppit's , Britains Deetail...I had a mountain & Fort Apache play set , never had a play mat just used the floor or took them outside...
I have been enjoying watching your collection grow & your great reviews of your purchases...I used to buy 21st Century & Forces of Valor when i used to go shopping with my wife the store used to stock them & i couldn't help but purchase a few...I have a Tiger , King Tiger , Panther , Pz III , Matilda , 88mm gun , Me262 & a Kundap combo from 21st & Forces of Valor...
They are all nice for the price...I am
going to be repainting the PzIII for the eastern front soon...I am going to try Mitch's white weathering technique on it...
The closest thing i have come to table top play was when i used to play the Milton Bradley game Axis & Allies...We used to play the game on a Rand McNally map of the world w/miniature pewter painted tanks , infantry , ships & planes...
As a fellow DAK collector i highly recommend the K&C DAK 222...
Always enjoy your pic's...

Joe

Hey Joe - great to hear your thoughts and history with Marx. I had Fort Navarone, an all-time favorite. Many of the Marx sets use to have the plastic mats included. Perhaps that's why I still like the mats. I'm getting into the 1/30 but the stuff is so pricey - slow to add pieces. I suppose that's why 1/30 is extra special. I'm looking at the 222 by Collector's Showcase but I like K&C as well. I'm interested in hearing how the two companies compare.

In any case, sounds like we have some similar interest in DAK. Appreciate your comments.

WO ,

Similiar interest...i agree...The DAK is by FAR my favorite thing to collect...As far as comparing CS to K&C , i am sorry i cannot help you there...I have never owned anything CS...Although , i was thinking about the DAK 232 &/or 222...I tried to nab a CS DAK Pzkpfw I from ebay but let it go when it got bid up...
My advice , do what you are doing...build your collection one piece at a time & enjoy !
I just recently picked up the DAK Hanomag & 222 from K&C...
Got to say two beautiful pieces...If you are looking for a 222 , i would say give it a look !
i will attach a pic for you...

Joe

Hello WO, nice display and i can answer your question as i have both the CS AK 222 and K&C AK 222. The CS version is good but i would recommend the K&C version as i reckon the detailing is better, the overall quality of the vehicle is better and they are similarly priced.

Tom

Thanks Tom. Appreciate the info. Do both 222s have moving wheels? I've heard the K&C does.

As Joe said, the K&C 222 does have moving wheels while the CS one does not.
