Happy Veteran's Day to all the high speed/ low drag warriors on this forum.

Re: Happy Nov 11th

Not so much 'Happy'

but

'Thanks' to all those fought and served and those who never came home after heading off to fight in the 'War to end all wars' and now lay in a foreign soil, under a foreign sky.

LEST WE FORGET

Re: Happy Nov 11th

I will go to the Veteran's Day ceremonies at the circle/fountain in downtown Marshall, MI. in the morning. The number of WWll and Korea veterans gets smaller each year. Here is in memory of my uncle/Godfather who was a WWll Veteran with the 36th Infantry. Texas Division "T" Patches.

John,

He made it into the book, as I promised.

Happy veteran's day, and THANK YOU, Veterans, from the bottom of my heart, for my life and my family. I and they, wouldn't be there without your sacrifices.

Re: Happy Nov 11th

Thanks for the information Louis. We appreciate it. John

Re: Happy Nov 11th

John- that is such a FANTASTIC idea of snapping pictures of your relatives awards like that- I will reciprocate- possibly tomorrow, definately over the weekend.

Re: Happy Nov 11th

Thanks Chris. By the way, I am 235 years old:p I was drinking Grog in Tunn's Tavern when they came in and pressed me into the service. The Grog keeps me running like the energizer Bunny:D Last game of the regular season in a few weeks-Penn State vs. Michigan State.

We surviving ones may be entitled to a bit of that

A Veteran is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to their country for an amount up to, and including, their life. May God bless each and everyone of our veterans and their families!!

Thank you for your brave service and keeping watch for us all.

The 11th November in Britain is known as Remembrance Day, and at 11am everything stops for a two minutes silence. Shops, railway stations etc make an announcement over the Tannoy, and in small towns maroons are fired to signify the time. We remember the dead and give thanks to the living, we owe them everything.

One of my favorite programs on the BBC Worldwide service is Witness. I often listen to it on the way to work.

Witness often remembers an event that happens on the day it is broadcast.

Today was November 11 and Witness today remembered Robert Graves' participation in World War I.

The program is about ten minutes long and worth the listen.

We elect governments and these governments tell our soldiers what to do. Often I'm uncomfortable with what we ask these young men to do. I have total respect with the fact that these young men follow the orders, believing, hoping that it is for the good.

Today I witnessed the remembrance for these soldiers at McGill University in Montreal. There were thousands present, along with the army, the cadets from the Canadian Military College, and the Black Watch. I thank them all, especially those who can no longer be there.
