I mentioned on some thread over in the K&C section that I was presently re-reading "The Great Game (On Secret Service in High Asia)" by Peter Hopkirk and Saber responded indicating that it's available in the States (thanks S).
So here's a link to the book and you'll find others there that I think are just as good, especially "In Search of Kim" by Mr Hopkirk.

Oh, and here's a couple of snaps taken yesterday that show how this particular book has been all around the world with me - I first read it in Nigeria.

Another must-read for the North West Frontier is Charles Allen's "Soldier Sahibs" and he has also written some other related works. Here's a link to this one;

Hope anyone who gets these books enjoys them as much as I do.

Excellent recommendation, Harry! I have "The Great Game" as well as another excellent book about the Great Game, which Hopkirk edited, "On Horseback Across Asia Minor". His writing style is very easy to read, and the subject matter is fascinating. On this same subject matter, I would recommend an excellent book called "Chitral: The Story of a Minor Seige", which is actually written by a Veterinary Major beseiged in the little fort, and one of the easiest non-fiction reads I've ever come across.

Hey, how about that for a coincidence. I just received The Great Game in the mail from Barnes and Noble today. Looking forward to starting in on it tonight.

I'll have to look out for Chitral Louis.
Thanks for the heids-up.

. There are COSMIC FORCES at work here.......:eek::eek:

As I said, Charles Allen's Soldier Sahibs is also brilliant.

You could be right H, although also will admit some wishful thinking on my part...looking to read up on Afghanistan and the NW Frontier in anticipation of this wonderful new range by K&C. :rolleyes:
