Hi Guys,

Chicago is just 10 days away and Gordon, me and the K&C gang are frantically trying to get ready.

It’s amazing…no matter how long in advance we plan…no matter how well we try and prepare…we always end up in a mad frantic scramble!

Oh well, such is life and perhaps that’s half the fun. Both Gordon and me love the Chicago Show its days and nights of non stop toy soldiers, military miniatures and much, much more.

It’s a great opportunity to meet up with old friends – both dealers and K&C collectors and make lots of new ones. It’s also great to see what our competition is up to. There has never, ever been a Chicago Show where I have not been surprised… delighted…frustrated…excited…inspired by what someone else has done or is planning to do. It’s like a great tribal gathering of like-minded individuals who love toy soldiers in all their shapes, forms and styles.

My only regret (always) is that it’s over all-too-soon. Up until the Sunday the rooms, halls, bars and restaurants are buzzing with toy soldier excitement. Come the Monday morning it’s deserted…tumbleweeds blowing down the empty hallways…the occasional rippled “flyer” stuck on an abandoned room…and a few lost souls sitting gloomily in the reception area waiting for their ride to the airport.

At least there’s always next year to look forward to…and for me, The Neville’s “London Show” in December and the “Westcoaster” in March.

On a couple of other points…

1. “Vietnam Fire Base” – Well done, John, those fire bases are very, very rare. Even K&C does not have one in its HQ Collection.

2. Repaints. Also congratulations on both the Grille and Afrika Korps repaints. I get a real “kick” out of seeing what K&C collectors can do with adapting one of our vehicles. It also gives me more ideas.

3. Dioramas. As most of you know I am a big fan of display dioramas – I feel they can really bring figures and vehicles to “life” in a very special way. When you use a “diorama” it’s a wee bit like being your very own movie director and making your very personal war movie.

My brother Gordon just finished our 24 square foot “Alamo” compound for K&C’s KingsX store in San Antonio. We’ll be showing some other nice dramatic displays in Chicago.

Anyway, that’s the story so far…Best wishes to one and all and…happy collecting!

Andy C.
