As I was reading up on the samurai legends, there is mention of one figure Oguri Hangan, who displays exceptional horsemanship. He manages to get a horse to stand on all four legs on a small go chess board. This was the figure which I had intended for the mounted Andrea samurai conversion. One little detail nagged me. Oguri Hangan was not wearing armour in this famous incident. All references and images including the representations of this incident on netsuke pieces confirmed this.
Hence I gave up on using the Andrea Samurai for this figure. Then I remembered that I had actually made a start of this figure many years ago and forgot about it. So a prolonged search for the lost figure revealed a horse and figure. The reason why I had abandoned it then was that I had used green putty to sculpt the details. This green putty is great for details and making masters but it hardens to a rubbery finish and is really unsuitable as a finished model, in my opinion. So I've decided to redo all the figure and replace all of the green putty with A&B putty.
The go chess board is represented by a small Lego brick suitably filled with putty and filed flat.
