The Japanese 24th division direct heavy fire on the advancing Americans from strongpoints on top of the ridge, as well as from fortified caves in the slope of the hill......

The infantry were assisted by Sherman tanks and despite fanatical Japanese resistance and murderous suicide squad counterattacks, the Americans took the ridge known in Marine Corps lore as "Big Apple." It took 82 days, but Okinawa was secured and "The Last Battle" in the Pacific was over.........

Nice pictures George. I enjoyed reading about the assault on the Shuri line that you set up. Your scenery and figures are top notch. John

For Pete's sake (and no, not you Peter) when in the world is a 1:30 maker going to give us some Pacific Theater figures and vehicles? The largest theater of war ever; the largest naval and air war ever; the largest amphibous landings ever; and still it gets pretty much ignored.

Oh yeah, great story line with photos. George, you sure do have a large and varied collection of war gaming miniatures. Kinda makes a guy green.

I will not collect 1:72, I will not collect 1:72, I have to keep repeating that over and over to make it sink in.

And by the way, I have not posted this for quite a while now so it is WAY over due....BEDFORD LORRY and DRAGON WAGON. Did you guys really think I forgot? NEVER SURRENDER and NO QUARTER. RAISE THE BLACK FLAG.... BEDFORD LORRY AND DRAGON WAGON OR DEATH. Death? Not really, but it sure would be nice to see them in 1:30.

I haven't posted for a while so I guess I am off track for this thread.

Nice work George.

Thanks Dick, John and Michael, I appreciate your feedback. I'm with you Michael, I'm a huge fan of the Pacific Theater, from the island campaign to the conflict in Burma, I enjoy reading about it and depecting it in my collection..........

George,

Its a good thing for Andy I hadn't seen your 1:72 scale stuff back before I discovered K&C, I could probably reproduce half of WWII in my 800 square foot museum!!:p:D

Thanks Louis, I appreciate your positive feedback. Everytime I post Pacific theater displays, I do so with you and Carlos in mind.

I am trying to come up with another one fitting for Burma/Singapore..................

Did you make the hill, george or is that a diorama piece, the other thing I was wondering was who makes those figures, are they kit pieces or do they come assembled and painted, really impressed by the variety and quality of that 1/72 range,

Thanks Red. The hill is a prefabricated item from a now defunct company called Scenic Effects. I flocked and painted it. The top section comes off to reveal a huge interior system of caves and bunkers.

The figures come unpainted, from such manufacturers as Britannia, FAA, SHQ, Battlefield Miniatures, etc; all 20mm WWII wargaming supply companies. I love the huge variety that is out there in this scale........
